It was an incredible platform to showcase our groundbreaking OXIPRO project and its remarkable achievements! 🌟 The OXIPRO focuses on the development of novel enzymes – and specifically oxidoreductases – for environment-friendly consumer products. With the help of the most efficient computing and newest biotechnology, OXIPRO will provide new sustainable and efficient production processes for consumer goods that will benefit not only the environment, but also consumers, industry, researchers, and society in general. #Sustainability in Focus: Our Evaluation of a Year under Reusable Law In January 2023, the mandatory reusable initiative came into effect. While we fully support the criticism of the legislation. Still, thanks to our software focused and data driven approach we can also draw positive conclusions including #threefold increase in our partner network. 🚀 The lessons learned in 2023 are diverse but optimistic; here's a sneak peek: 💡 Small towns, big impact: Gummersbach in the Rheinland triples its reusable usage within a year, challenging the assumption that sustainability is exclusive to metropolises. 💚 Fertile soils for reuse: Districts like Berlin-Mitte and Köln-Ehrenfeld lead the way, with Ehrenfeld residents choosing reusables over twice as often as those in Köln-Mühlheim. In Berlin-Mitte, the choice for reusables per resident is nearly four times higher than in the rest of the capital. 🏥 Heros of the health system are also reuse heros: The University Hospital Cologne abandoned single-use confirming that reusables are not only feasible but also simpler. Five times less waste on the campus equals 45,000 avoided single-use packages. 🌱 Impact, yes we can: Over 100 Vytal partners already charge extra for single-use items, resulting in impressive increases in reusable adoption. 2023 legislation, so what: Reusables work at scale, that is very clear after 2023. With our digital solution we can not only enable reusables but really induce value for all sides. Chris had the privilege of participating, and it was an enriching experience with fantastic networking opportunities. 🌍 The SOL-REC2 project, backed by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 programme, aims to pioneer recycling technologies to revolutionise the multilayer and flexible packaging landscape. I came across an inspiring read on the Circular Economy, where I learned about the Kalundborg Symbiosis in Denmark. This innovative project showcases a partnership between 17 public and private companies. The core idea is simple yet impactful: a residual flow from one company becomes a valuable resource for another, leading to mutual benefits for the environment and the economy. Reflecting on this example, I am convinced that a similar initiative could thrive in our region, potentially paving the way for a successful project. #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Innovation

Sustainability Innovation = Sustainovation 🍃💡 A word to describe the best of both worlds. But what does Sustainovation mean for Eckes-Granini?   Our colleague Dr. Michael Kempf, Director Research and Development at Eckes-Granini, answered this question at the Innovation Day hosted and organised by our partner AGRANA Group. Interesting key notes and discussions all about “LIVING SUSTAINOVATION” showed how far our industry has come in moving towards a more sustainable future with innovation as a driver. This topic is dear to our heart because sustainability and innovation go hand in hand at Eckes-Granini. We know that holistic sustainability is not possible without innovation. And innovation has no place at Eckes-Granini without sustainability at its core.   We are delighted that Michael had the opportunity to share our approach.
