Dear Candidate,
Oversharing can jeopardize your chances of getting a job. Recently, during an interview with a client for a data analyst position, a promising candidate impressed us with his answers and experience. However, when we inquired about the extent of his exposure to data, he went as far as presenting data from his current employer to us.
We were surprised and disappointed at the same time. There is a CONFIDENTIALITY/NON-DISCLOSURE CLAUSE in your employment letter for a reason which is to protect sensitive company information. You can't be sharing information about your company just to gain employment in another company. This action led us to doubt whether he would handle the company's information with care if hired.
In an interview session be cautious of this. There are situations in which recruiters ask you leading questions to ascertain if you can confidentially handle information, if you fall for this, believe me, it will cost you that role you are interviewing for.
Remember, sharing too much can hinder your chances of getting the job you desire.
