We have reshaped our Network Infrastructure business group to ensure it can continue strengthening its technology leadership, improve profitability and go after growth opportunities. The acquisition of Infinera, a global supplier of innovative open optical networking solutions and advanced optical semiconductors will enable us to achieve five key things: Create a truly global supplier of leading optical networks equipment, giving Nokia more scale within a growing segment. Increase the breadth of our optical product portfolio and speed up our product roadmap timeline. Strengthen our position and footprint, especially in North America. Accelerate Nokia’s expansion with enterprises in particular among webscalers. Through all this, create significant value for our shareholders. In short, bringing together Nokia’s optical networks with Infinera capabilities will create a dynamic provider in the segment, one with the scale and financial stability to innovate, better serve our existing customers and expand to serve new ones. This transaction, along with the recently announced sale of Submarine Networks, will create a reshaped Network Infrastructure built on three strong pillars of Fixed Networks, IP Networks and Optical Networks.
