I just returned from the 9th Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing Summit in Berlin organized by Uniglobal where I had the honor to guide as a chairwoman through the two days conference. This impactful event brought together nearly 200 participants and featured insights from over 40 dynamic speakers and panelists. Engaging discussions spanned a variety of crucial topics, such as the EU Transfer Pricing Draft Directive, Operationalizing Pillars 1 & 2, BEPS planning, and the pivotal role of AI in driving productivity with simple use cases to start. In-depth conversations explored effective dispute resolution strategies, with shared experiences on MAP, APA, and ICAP from diverse international perspectives. Furthermore, we delved into how tax and transfer pricing can contribute significant value to ESG initiatives. Our discussions seamlessly aligned with the insights gathered from the latest EY International Tax and Transfer Pricing Survey 2024, which you can explore via https://lnkd.in/ef-Nuqba. My takeaway from this conference is that despite the challenges and requirements to which tax and transfer pricing professionals are exposed to, there are a lot of best practices, solutions and ideas out there to manage these and it seems at it has never been more important to exchange and explore these among companies, advisors and tax administrations. 📣 EU Commission Opens Consultation on BEFIT Proposal. The initiative has the aim of introducing a common set of rules for groups of companies and head offices, based in the EU, to determine their taxable base. The BEFIT proposal could also apply to non-EU-headquartered groups. It will allocate the companies' profits between the relevant EU member states and, according to the Commission, it will reduce compliance costs for in-scope businesses by up to 65%.
