There’s a lot going on in Barcelona right now! 🏎 It was a shame that Lando just missed out yesterday, but nevertheless it’s great to see encouraging signs of this year’s F1 championship looking a little more competitive! ⛵ The America Cup is building towards the October series, with evidence of serious team presence in the buildings around the harbour. However, just as importantly, it was the location for an excellent DeepTech Alliance Clean Energy event last week. Thanks to Jakob Heiberg for the kind invite, David Domingo for the hosting in Barcelona and Linda Krondahl and Magnus Melander for the fine organisation. 🌍 It’s highly encouraging to see such success in bringing together three of the crucial ingredients necessary to properly solve the world’s headline problems in this area: large corporates prepared to innovate, start-ups and sources of investment. 🌐 Given the scale of the challenges we face, a global effort is needed. Whilst the Deep Tech Alliance membership across 11 countries doesn’t quite qualify on its own as ‘global’ it’s certainly an impressive effort to bring together players from all these regions, and a fantastic opportunity for collaboration and cross-fertilisation. 👩💻 Whilst I had many interesting conversations covering a myriad of challenges from business model and regulation to technology, it was highly refreshing to see such a recognition of the value of the fourth crucial ingredient - access to deep technical expertise (in itself cross fertilised across multiple domains) to help develop the products and solutions needed.

🌟 Exciting News from TRA2024! 🌟 Representatives from the MODI Project consortium are participating in the Transport Research Arena (TRA) in Dublin (Ireland). The theme for #TRA2024 is “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility. TRA is the largest European research and innovation conference on transport and mobility. MODI's coordinator, Dr. Ragnhild Wahl, moderated yesterday's Special Session 3.3, titled "How can Large-scale Demonstration Accelerate CCAM Adoption in European Logistic Chains?" The session contributed insights from other current European CCAM demonstration projects under the CCAM Association framework, such as AWARD-H2020 and MODI Project, and observations on how to achieve implementation cases beyond demonstration and Research and innovation projects. MODI was represented by Andreas Allström (Einride), Mats Rosenquist Rosenquits (Volvo Group), and Mads Skovsgaard Rasmussen (DFDS). The session offered different views on the effectiveness of large-scale demonstrations as a tool to enhance CCAM technology adoption across Europe. Moreover, the speakers also emphasized the focus on safety in the CCAM-related use cases in Europe, and a comparison with the approach applied in other markets was discussed. Furthermore, MODI will be represented in the third Interactive Symposium on Research & Innovation for Connected and Automated Driving in Europe (EUCAD Symposium 2024), which will be held in conjunction with the TRA Conference. Complementary to the CCAM (sub-)theme of TRA 2024, the event aims to delve deeper into specific key topics and challenges for CCAM Research, Innovation, and testing in Europe and beyond.
