Mitch Jones loves a good challenge.
He has a proven track record in hospitality, financial services, and the lease-to-own industry, where he’s transformed teams and helped them achieve measurable success. “I’ve always been a fixer,” he says of his past roles. “There’s a process to that. It doesn’t come by accident, and you need to connect with the hearts and minds of the members of your team.”
That desire to join an industry change-maker and create a strong team is what brought him to Mini Mall, where he’s the new Regional Vice President of South-East U.S. His territory covers seven states (North and South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi) and around 42 Mini Mall properties.
Mitch brings his leadership expertise, honed through decades of guiding teams to success — first as a manager and restaurant owner, then in progressive leadership roles at Rent-A-Center, where he helped the organization modernize its systems. He then moved on to do the same for two financial services providers.
Mitch was immediately intrigued by the idea of working at Mini Mall, and his interest grew the more he learned about the company. “I thought, what an opportunity to join while they’re still new and help them develop new processes and solidify the ones they have.”
He joined the Mini Mall Storage Properties team in July 2023 to help ensure the front-line teams at his region’s locations have everything they need to be successful. He’s focused on day-to-day operations, helping regional operations managers (ROMs) develop their teams and work towards key performance indicators that drive efficiency and profitability for Mini Mall.
Mitch is inspired by the opportunity to help his team members succeed — and has been throughout his career. “I can’t think of a better reason to get up in the morning,” he admits. He’s a keen student of the servant-leader philosophy, espoused by Simon Sinek and others. “I really think the number one job of any leader is to remove obstacles for their team, to make sure that they understand we’re in this together, and when we’re aligned, we’re pretty powerful.”
When he’s not working, Mitch can be found camping, boating, or spending time with his wife and their three dogs.
