For many resorts, adding off-season operations means running lifts thousands of additional hours per year. Significant improvements are taking place at Turku Repair Yard, one of the BLRT Grupp shiprepair yards. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our facilities in Naantali, Finland, we are transforming the graving dock bottom of one of the largest docks in Northern Europe, measuring 265 meters by 70 meters. This initiative is also a key component of our broader investment program aimed at modernizing our infrastructure. Currently, we are on schedule to finalize the 160-meter south side by the end of July. Following this milestone, we plan to extend the new area on the south side to 190 meters in August. Additionally, we aim to commence work on the north side during the Autumn. The new bottom design introduces several key improvements that directly benefit shipowners: - Flexibility in ship placement: the fully concrete bottom allows for better positioning of ships. This flexibility means faster turnaround times and more efficient scheduling for shipowners. - Enhanced safety and environmental standards: by using advanced, non-toxic materials and incorporating better drainage and waste management systems, we aim to significantly improve safety for employees and customer representatives and minimize environmental impact. This ensures compliance with stringent environmental regulations. - Robotic water jetting: using robots for water jetting will streamline maintenance processes, making them more efficient and less labor-intensive. For shipowners, this translates to reduced maintenance costs and shorter service times. - Easier cleaning: the renewed dock bottom surface will be significantly easier to clean from grit, which is crucial for vessels that will be silicone-painted. Maintaining a clean and dust-free environment is essential for these vessels. This improvement ensures quicker and more effective upkeep, reducing downtime and operational costs for shipowners. These improvements at Turku Repair Yard mark a significant step forward in yard operations, boosting both efficiency and safety. They demonstrate our commitment to maintaining top-tier facilities. Here at Tower Supplies, we go above and beyond for our marine customers. One of these customers is Red Funnel Ferries Limited.
