Let me indulge myself just a moment, while I appreciate my chosen career, and accept the challenges myself and the other chauffeurs in my network face... In the #hospitality sector, staff retention is difficult, in our niche it is finding them in the first place as well. Many 'would be chauffeurs' are opting to drive for the app companies; think Uber, Wheely & Blacklane... Though there is a place for them, it has made it extremely difficult to hire and recruit... Many will join these tech companies for the easy option, having graduated from minicabs, often with little training and knowhow... after all, almost everything is done for you. We have seen a huge shortage of drivers and chauffeurs recently, and licensing rules and regulations have changed with Brexit, there are even backlogs for licensing renewals, it is a very tough time... And it doesn't look like it is getting any better soon. We do face some serious challenges, and I wish to reach out to the next generation of #Chauffeurs working with #ExecutiveAssistants or #ChiefOfStaff, #PublicRelations teams and #TalentManagers, just to say... GIVE YOURSELF TIME! I cannot rest, I want to show my support to the next generation of the #Chauffeurs that will be driving you because I love this little pocket of industry. We literally drive business in the #CSuite and #ExecutiveBoard! What challenges does your sector face and what can you do about it?

Have been contemplating this for a long time now given that I spend a lot of time driving. And this revolves around whether driving habits of individuals should be taken into consideration during the hiring process. The speedster is not likely to comply with regulations, especially when not monitored. The one who weaves in and out of lanes endangers others for personal goals. The one who will not yield to anyone is likely selfish and won't make much of a team member. The one who flashes headlights, empties garbage from the car, gives the middle finger, cuts from the fastest lane across six to seven lanes to the slowest lane, just as toll payment is due, oh the one who does not know that an indicator exists within the car, all these can be categorised as potentially troublesome employees. Well, I know this won't work as a sieve of suitability. It will likely encompass 90% of the populace. 😂 But this remains a source of humour and entertainment for me. 😊
