What can you say about such an exquisite stone? We often find ourselves lost for words when filming such beauty because, in truth, this 30-carat pear-shaped D Flawless diamond really does speak for itself. A hugely sought-after stone thanks to its rarity and prestige, we have to capture them quickly before we send them out to our clients. How do you rate the pear shape diamond?

These are not four different gemstones. These are the incredible colour change Alexandrites. Alexandrite is incredibly rare and ones with a strong colour change like these gemstones are even rarer. Most people will never have seen an Alexandrite like these in real life. The heart cut Alexandrite is 0.54ct. It goes from a baby pink at night to a vivid forest green colour in natural light during the day. This gemstone would cost £5000 in a bespoke platinum ring design. The second Alexandrite has a peachy morganite colour in the evening and an olive green colour during the day. It is 1.59ct and would cost £6000 in a bespoke platinum ring. It has a very unusual inclusion in the stone that gives off an iridescent flash. You can see it at around 11 o'clock on the stone. George Frederick Kunz, the master gemologist at Tiffany & Co was passionate about Alexandrite because of its beauty and rarity. He produced a series of alexandrite rings between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Alexandrite is the alternative birthstone for June. The colour change effect is due to alexandrite transmitting green and red light equally. Incandescent and daylight light sources are richer in different wavelengths (red or blue and green respectively) and this has a direct effect on what colour the gemstone appears to the human eye.
