A challenging and high value fundraising appeal.
My organisation Freestyle Bristol CIC is today launching a fundraising appeal for our weekly project aimed at young men Football Fridays. Our goal is the £15,000 cost of providing the session over year, a sum which covers the pitch hire & staffing. This might be considered a large sum but we provide these facilities for a large number of young men who can access a positive & healthy activity and an alternative to hanging around the streets on a Friday night. At a time when the media is full of stories about young people and antisocial behaviour & Street crime, I'm a massive believer in the idea that society need to be more proactive and invest in offering solutions and alternatives like this in tackling the issues. This was brought home to me again over the summer when I young person I had worked with when I started in youth work and had watched grow into a man was tragically stabbed to death by other young men. Going back to that £15,000 target. Two years ago I wrote an article for The Bristol Cable that highlighted the cost of youth crime and pointed out that keeping one young person behind bars costs us £76000 per annum. What we are trying to raise is quite simply 20% of this sum. If you think you could help us help young men in Bristol, please donate and share the appeal with ours. https://lnkd.in/eq53HSFN

Enhancing the skills of the individuals who run sports clubs or businesses. We focus on commercial skills, marketing skills and how developing emotional intelligence skills can benefit every individual.
COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB Tapping into your community resources to fuel the club’s growth and impact. It's clear that the local community surrounding sports clubs holds a wealth of untapped resources, both in terms of people and funds. However, many clubs seem to take a passive approach to engaging with their community and don’t access all available community resources. Shifting the focus towards active interaction could unlock these valuable resources and contribute significantly to the club's sustainability and growth. What has the community to offer? The people in the local community, including participants, followers, volunteers, business partners, school partners, event participants, and local funders, form the backbone of a sports club's support network. These individuals are not only potential sources of financial support but also valuable contributors to the club's overall success. Similarly, the various funding streams such as memberships, ticket sales, sponsorship, advertising, event payments, summer school payments, Trusts and Foundations, donations from local people, social value payments, and CSR funders represent financial lifelines for the club. Actively engaging with these channels can help secure stable financial support for the club's operations and initiatives. Moving forward, the clubs need to recognise the importance of active engagement with their community in which they can establish stronger relationships, foster community involvement, and ultimately benefit. At Sport Support, we provide training, advice and consultancy for Governing Bodies, clubs and people, to enable them to cost effectively access these resources. CALLING ALL INDUSTRY LEADERS... Have you heard about THE BIG GOAL? This is new initiative to fight youth homelessness, which Comms Dealer is supporting as media partner. Firstly, the fun bit. This is an opportunity for your (male and female) staff to compete in regional 5-a-side football tournaments staged at Premier League or English Football League (EFL) venues, culminating in a national final’s day to be staged at the official England teams’ training camp at St George’s Park, next summer. Yes, you read that right, the Home of England Football. Where the likes of Kane, Saka, Rashford, Rice, Grealish and Foden have all graced the pitch. And it gets better. Your entry fee for the tournament will fund a Street Soccer Foundation Academy in YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, helping disadvantaged young people learn discipline, the ethics of work and essential life-skills plus improve their health and wellbeing – all through a personal development course and by playing football. Effectively, it’s a CSR programme in a box! Furthermore, at the end of the Academy programme, you have a pool of young talent to potentially hire, saving you thousands in recruitment fees too. The BIG GOAL is quite possibly the most exciting CSR and staff motivation initiative the ICT industry has ever seen, and I sincerely hope you will want to get involved. Industry leaders can find out more by attending THE BIG GOAL launch at St George’s Park on October 4th (2pm-5pm). Speakers at the event will include: Street Soccer Foundation founder and CEO Keith Mabbutt, who will explain how the football tournaments and SSF academies work and who will introduce graduates who can explain how it has helped them. Former footballer Danny Simpson, who will tell his own personal story of how he went from having his own struggles with homelessness to winning the Premier League title with Leicester City FC. Giacom CEO Terry O’Brien, who will explain why his company committed to The Big Goal as headline sponsor. You will find a registration form and summary video here: https://lnkd.in/e67yHABS This is our IndustryUnited. Join the team!

The issues to consider here are more broad than what is highlighted in this article. The way NSOs and PSOs are funded is dated and subject to political pressures; Canada can’t decide whether it wants a high-performance sport system or to support grassroots sports and the cyclical back and forth from one focus to the other doesn’t allow either to grow and prosper; and the insanely high cost of living and business is putting an incredible strain on all charities and not-for-profits with no end in sight. We need more efficient funding systems and less bureaucracy. #SportInCanada #notforprofits #charities

January 24 already! As we roll through January we think of setting priorities and goals as we look to tackle more, create value in what we do and build on the impact we have had. For the work I am fortunate to be part of with KidSport Calgary & Area and the Flames Sports Bank the process is similar, and the challenges, opportunities and energy are similar, they are just becoming overshadowed by the growing demand we have from low-income kids who need our support so they can play sports this year. Our investment in the lives of low-income kids and the sport registration fee assistance we provide them grew by 68% in 2023 as we raised and invested $2.9 million dollars back into our local sports economy and community. 2024 has quickly shown us that this demand will not be slowing down as we have already assisted 740 kids with sport registration fee assistance this year a 45% increase in demand from this same time last year. More families are in need right across Calgary & Area, Every segment of our community, every background, every sport, there are kids who need our help. As demand grows, our/my goal is to ensure we never have to say "No" to a qualified child. To make this possible we are going to need to grow our partner and donor base significantly this year and into the future. That will be at the top of my goal list for 2024 as saying no to a child who needs us is not something we want to do. This will be a community effort as we have a ton of work to get done in raising the funds locally to support the local kids who need us. So.....if the opportunity to invest in the lives of low-income kids so they can access sport, connects with you or your business, lets start the conversation and see how we can team up to make 2024 our next biggest year yet! Need some thought starters? - Sponsor an upcoming event - Wing Off, Barn Burner NHL Playoff Pool, Brian Burke's Targets for Kids, PepsiCo Golf Tournament....... - Host some clients or recognize some employees at these same great events - Become a multi-year partner as part of our Champions Club -building a partnership focused on employee engagement and corporate pride - Host a fundraiser or third party event - Donate an item to an upcoming auction or raffle - Donate your household empties through our KidSport Recycling Program - Get your equipment sanitized through our Flames Sports Bank sanitizing program - Donate some new or gently used equipment by dropping it off at any Wood Automotive Group dealership Let's build this together and work to change some lives for local kids who need our assist! I will leave you with this testimonial from a family we were able to help in 2023 "U are a miracle with out ppl like u my kids wouldn't be able to play, here on the rez 80% of kids can't play due to no equipment and no funding for equipment and I thank u will all my heart n soul for making it possible for my kids to play u don't realize it but u r changing lives and I can't thank u enough 💖"

Description: Cowbell Industry: Sporting Events, Athletics What it was purchased for: A charity marathon coordinator wanted a giveaway that spectators could use to cheer on their runners. They chose this cowbell. Not only is it a fun way to make some noise, but it also looks like a cowbell/kettlebell weight so there’s that tie-in to athletics. How it was distributed: The item was co-branded with the name of a company sponsoring the marathon and was handed out to the crowd on the day of the event. Result or ROI: Since it was co-branded, the cost was split two ways and both companies were able to advertise at several huge events, getting their advertisement into the hands of everyone there cheering on the marathon participants.
