🌍⚽ Emotions at Euro 2024: Germany vs Spain! ⚽🌍 The match between Germany and Spain at Euro 2024 caused a lot of emotion and discussion. 165,000 German fans cheered Toni Kroos on as he faced the question of whether this would be the last game of his career. A total of 198,000 fans watched the match in all 10 fan zones, with 82% of the fans coming from Germany. All 198,000 fans were present for kick-off at 6pm. The Olympic Games started in Greece around 776 BC. They were part of a cycle, celebrating human athletic achievement as a tribute to the Olympian gods. There were a series of games, each held on a 4-year rotation. The Olympic Games were held in honor of Zeus, near his sanctuary of Olympia on the Peloponnese. These were the games that the modern Olympics looked to for inspiration when they started in 1896. The Pythian Games were held at Delphi, on the slope of Mt. Parnassus, in honor of the god Apollo, whose shrine and oracle gave advice to travelers from all over the Greek world and beyond. The Isthmian Games, held at Corinth in honor of the sea god Poseidon, close to the small strip of land that connected the Peloponnese to the rest of the mainland. These games were particularly favored by the Athenians. The Nemean Games were also in honor of Zeus, and held near the site where his favored son, Herakles, was said to kill the Nemean Lion, a ferocious best whose pelt the hero wore from that point forward. There was another set of games - the Heraean Games, in honor of Zeus's wife Hera, and had the unusual element of that all the competitors were girls and young women - specifically showing their athletic abilities to recognize Hera's dominance as queen of the Olympians. With that legacy, and the century-long history of the modern Olympic Games, the city of Athens hosted the games in 2004. It was a watershed year for Athens, and for all of Greece. It's hard to overemphasize just how transformative the work that went into hosting the games, and the years leading up to it, were. Massive infrastructure projects - and spending - happened at an equally massive scale. Many point to that as the arrival of Athens on the world stage as a truly international city - along with New York, London, Paris, or Hong Kong. Those who traveled to Greece in the years before the Games saw a city reinvent itself. The area around the acropolis, and especially the long stately promenade leading to the Plaka neighborhood is a good example of how the Greeks to a singular opportunity to build up their country. All of this transformational spending was happening just a couple years after the advent of the euro as the European common currency, replacing the drachma - a truly ancient unit of money. This would come to have great ramifications for Greece later. But, the construction around Greece - renovations of archaeological sites, modernization of the highway and rail system, a huge bridge spanning the Corinthian Gulf - it was all part of Greece's reawakening in many ways. Even now, many Greeks look to the 2004 Games not as a moment in time, but an announcement that modern Greece had arrived - honoring its past, but looking to a bright future. One of the most enduring images of those Games was the narrative visual imagery of the opening ceremony - a living tableau of Greek history from the ancients to the present. https://lnkd.in/ewSb9Nf6

Just read this very interesting article by kicker about the future of racket sports highlighting new Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS Tour) initiated by Patrick Mouratoglou. The UTS is an amazing format and brings a fresh wave of excitement, modernity, and entertainment to the tennis court, breaking traditions and embracing a vibrant, faster-paced, and spectator-friendly format. But does the future of racket sports only lie in tennis? At TIO TIO Social Sports Felix Petersen and I believe “The Future is Padel!”. Beyond the benefits enjoyed by active players, padel also offers a remarkable experience for spectators: The compact court paired with glas walls and its emphasis on double play make padel a sport with spectacular rallies and shots laden with a high tension and mental engagement. For this reason, prominent brands like CUPRA Deutschland, American Express, Renault, Volvo Cars or Carlsberg Group have already recognized the potential of what we at TIO TIO do not only call a sport but a lifestyle. In conclusion, the emergence of new formats such as the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) and the rise of padel exemplify the evolving landscape of racket sports. Both are forward-facing and demonstrate a keen sense of what modern audiences seek. _________ #padel #padeltennis #UTSTennis #tennisinnovation #tiotio #thefutureispadel

❌ Never saw that coming. Who would have thought to take a tennis court and turn it into... a chalice? 🍺 ➡ What if we reimagined the very essence of a tennis court? That's exactly what Stella Artois did, taking their 2023 sponsorship of major Grand Slam tournaments to the next level. 🔴 The Challenge: How do you create a #synergy between the world of premium #beer and the sport of #tennis, especially when one is known for clay courts and the other for a perfectly poured chalice? 🔵 The Solution: Leveraging the literal common ground - clay. Many elite #ATP tournaments are played on clay courts, the same material used in ceramics. This sparked an idea: ➡ why not create a unique #Stella Artois Chalice from the very same clay? ⚫ The Execution: During the 2024 ATP Chile Open and the iconic Roland-Garros tournament, Stella Artois gathered clay directly from the courts. Partnering with skilled ceramists, they handcrafted a limited edition series of ceramic Chalices, echoing the form of their iconic glassware. ➡ These weren't just for show. They became a coveted #prize, awarded to the player who achieved the "perfect serve" (ace) in each match, seamlessly blending the two worlds. ⭕ Cases like this prove that the potential for creative sponsorship is immense. And I think it's beautiful. --- Brand: Stella Artois ( AB InBev ) 🇧🇪 Agency: Draftline Andina

2024’s summer of sport is upon us, with the #UEFA Euro 2024 football tournament well underway, Wimbledon fast approaching and the Grand Départ of the Tour de France imminent. But the summer’s biggest events will undoubtedly be the #Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. Companies hoping to cash in on these sporting fiestas should take care, and consider seeking guidance before committing to an ad campaign referring to any big summer sporting event. #brandprotection #trademarks https://lnkd.in/ebVSJ7S3
