DAY 2 OF THE 18 DAY CHALLENGE : IT ALWAYS GETS BETTER Life's a puzzle, isn't it? We all encounter experiences that shake up the pieces, forcing us to reassemble the picture. Last year's trip to Canada with my maternal family was one such experience. I went in with high expectations, but what I got was a complete transformation. Back then, my puzzle pieces were scattered. My grades were lackluster, barely any internships , and my passion for business and entrepreneurship remained unexpressed. The trip, however, became a catalyst. It sparked a metamorphosis – from a carefree teenager to a young man determined to take control. The exact trigger for this change remains a mystery, but the impact is undeniable. Before Canada, I felt overwhelmed by the mess I'd created. I couldn't fathom how to fix it. But the trip ignited a fire within me. Upon returning, I began meticulously picking up the pieces, one by one. I poured my energy into academics, personal development, and building a strong professional profile. Even without concrete proof of success, I persevered. Then came the opportunity to participate in the Start-Up Weekend by Masters' Union. It was a pivotal moment. Our team emerged victorious, tangible proof that my efforts were not in vain. Piece by piece, the puzzle started coming together. By year-end, I'd secured funding from Ankur Warikoo at THE CEO CHALLENGE by Masters' Union, achieved a stellar 96% in my board exams, and built a respectable CV. Sure, there are still a few pieces out of place, but that doesn't faze me. After all, life's puzzle may be ever-evolving, but one thing remains constant: it always gets better.

"This experience has been the pinnacle of my study abroad experience at DIS." Leading the Entrepreneurship Practicum program at DIS - Study Abroad is far more than a role; it's a profound opportunity to connect academic theory with the dynamic heart of Denmark’s startup culture. Reflecting on my student exchange journey: Breaking through societal norms, opening doors for my siblings, and embracing diverse cultures. 💫 Hello Connections! As I look back at my time during student exchange program, I'm reminded of the incredible journey I embarked on across 10 European countries, including Italy, Spain, Austria, Portugal, Belgium, and more. This experience wasn't just about studying and networking; it was an exploration of different cultures, perspectives, and personal growth. Breaking through societal norms was one of the most liberating aspects of my exchange. Venturing beyond the familiar and immersing myself in new environments challenged me to question preconceived notions and embrace diversity in all its forms. I believe this journey has not only shaped me but has also paved the way for my siblings to venture beyond their comfort zones and explore the world around them. Traveling across Europe taught me invaluable lessons, both inside and outside the classroom. From navigating language barriers to adapting to cultural customs, every experience was an opportunity for growth. Of course, along the way, there were mistakes made and lessons learned. But it's through these challenges that I truly discovered my resilience and determination. Today, as I reflect on this milestone, I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunities that came my way and the people who supported me throughout this journey. It's a reminder that stepping outside of our comfort zones is where true growth happens. ❄️ Starting today, our whole team is off on leave until January 2nd - which means the time has come to look back on 2023. Press Start Academy's most significant development this year is that we have finally, belatedly, started setting our sights beyond Hong Kong. I’ve been to Singapore (three times), Bangkok, New York City, and Melbourne, all on work trips. It’s been a year of exploration, making connections, running workshops, speaking at conferences, sharing our vision with educators and leaders around the world, learning about their excitement and enthusiasm for our work, laying the groundwork for a more global 2024. But more importantly, this year, our team has expanded both our capability and capacity. A few examples on capability: 🎓 We launched our professional learning offerings for educators in January, and we’ve already run multiple public cohorts, hosted multiple sessions for schools, and taken them on the road multiple times.  🌐 We ran our first ever public community event 14 months ago (due to three covid-laden years), and we’ve since done four symposiums, curated the first Games for Change Asia-Pacific conference in Hong Kong, and led countless public and partner events.  📈 We landed at our first ever expo only this May, and we've since been at two more, culminating in a double booth - shared with newly onboard strategic partners Reactor School - at Hong Kong's annual Learning and Teaching Expo. And capacity? We’ve expanded four times our team size, welcomed our biggest batch of summer interns ever, experimented with new ways to develop our talent and build our culture - and we’re still surviving. Simply: While we’ve seen the back of a hugely challenging era and are entering into another period of uncertainty, I can finally look forward with just a slight tinge of cautious optimism and excitement, and that’s a luxury and a privilege for which I have the most amazing team and community to thank. Because the sole truth is that the impressive work that our team does, and the amazing support that our educator, school, student and parent communities offer us, are the only reasons I've been able to explore beyond our existing boundaries 🙇♀️ There’s no wrap here, besides that of Christmas presents, because ours isn’t work that stops, even as our team gets a much-deserved end-of-year break.
