Welcome back. When it comes to the job market, tech related skills are among the most in demand as more Filipinos pursue a career in the digital space. e-learning platform Outclass is helping Filipinos bridge the tech skills gap to achieve their career goals. And here the doctor was about that is Irene Omar, the executive director of Outclass Hiring. Hi Denise, how are you now tell me more about our class how how did it start and do now, you know, expanding to other Asian ASEAN countries rather? Yeah. It started as AirAsia Academy, not so much of training pilots and cabin crew, but when we were embracing digitalization and being more data-driven and we were pivoting to more than just becoming an airline, we are. We were building digital businesses and so forth. And we realized that we needed tech talent, tech talent like software engineers or digital marketers or data analysts and so forth. And we do realize that it's difficult to find this kind of talent in our. Part of the world which is Southeast Asia and we felt that rather than importing talent from abroad, from India or from US or Europe, why not build a a platform that could help rescue people so that they can be part of this whole digital journey. So hence the reason why we actually develop Irish academies first to rescale our own staff. But then there were a lot of demand coming from corporates and government that we decided to open up to the public. And then we also received some, you know, request in relation to how can they learn as and when they want to, whenever they want to so that they can, you know, they can actually enhance their whole learning journey at their own pace and at their own time. And hence we develop our class and new platform that helps them with the learning journey and helps them be able to enhance your own potential and find the right kind of jobs out there in the market. More about the programs, the classes, the courses I mean what specific learning paths and resources that Outclass offer to individuals and professionals. So there are many career paths that we have developed. So the first few career paths that we're developing or have developed our focus more on the tech career path because we feel this is what the the the region needs in order for them to be a part of this IR 4.0 and so forth. So we're looking at digital marketing, data analytics, software engineering, cloud infrastructure, cyber security and so forth. So currently there's about 15 Courier. Path that has developed within this pillars and and and you know they can actually you learn this can actually subscribe to this platform for a very very cheap price, which is about five U.S. dollars and you can have a whole learning journey and enhancing where they should be focusing more than could lend them with jobs and get the right kind of certification and badges and so far. And because of that, I mean, you have a full 15 learning paths, but how do you ensure that each learning path, all the learning experiences on outclass, really are tailored to individual career goals? Yeah. So what we do is we look at what are the jobs availability out there and the demand for jobs out there. And we have seen that there are many, you know in demand jobs in relation to cybersecurity and all and and software engineering and data analytics and so forth. So from there we develop what are the job description that's required from these companies for this kind of talent and what sort of tech steps that they need to to scale up. So and as a result, this is how we create. All those courses so that they are job ready as soon as they finish that you know, as soon as they got to the learning path and get that certification and so forth. Now our class has on demand courses and instructor LED master classes. Can you elaborate on the differences between those two? Sure. So the instructor LED courses are face to face learning. Training in a classroom is a scheduled course and you pay per course. So this could be a good Cam for data analytics and so forth. Or it could be a soft skill course that you pay for costs and so forth. Now for the on demand learning you you could think of it like a Netflix of education. So you subscribe to the platform of about five years dollars per month and we have a thousands, thousands of videos. That could help you with which kind of learning path that you would like to have. So you start off with a personality test and that personality test will guide you in terms of like what sort of job family that will be suited for you. So we start off with tech job, which is available right now, but in the future there'll be other job families like finance or legal or sustainability and so forth. And from there, the recommended courses powered by AI to match your personality and ambitions and guide you towards that. Courier path that's best suited for you, that could lend you with the jobs that's available out there. And can you share some success stories individuals, organizations or businesses that have really significantly benefited from Outclass? We have seen a lot of the lower income group, the B 40s we call it over here in Malaysia where we found someone who is a secretary who did it to upskill themselves. So she took data analytics courses, she took the wood can courses and she managed to have an income of leaf of at least 1000 U.S. dollars per month to become a data analyst in her own organization. In our own organization in AirAsia, we we have. A baggage handler who took up the data analytics courses and he upscaled himself to become a data analyst operations in baggage handling and he left us two years ago to to join an ecommerce company to become a data analyst over there. So there are many many. Examples of those we have pilots who are coding or aircraft engineer who became a software engineer and so forth or a right hailer who has used our videos to the on demand learning platform. And we saw that his capabilities in understanding software engineering and he managed to complete a lot of those courses and we felt that he could uplift himself to become an entry level software engineers. So there are quite a few success stories which I think this platform will produce even more. Because of the highly personalized learning journey that we provide to you that suits your personality and your ambitions. Now you really highlighting the focusing on the individuality of a person. Let's talk about the Philippine market. I mean, how do you plan to tailor your offerings to me, the specific needs of learners and businesses in the Philippines? Or do you see that you know the same kind of market as you have in other Asian countries? I think it's more or less the same kind of market because we see there's a strong demand in all these tax skills that we have and also future skill sets required that could be sustainability skills or ESG skills and so forth. And also how do we embrace AI in relation to become a better, a better employer or a better learner and so forth and, and, and, and all that. And for us, it's like we look at the job. Availability in Philippines, we understand what are the demands in certain skill sets and so forth and I'm sure that we can cater towards that and fulfilling the needs and wants of the Philippines. What partnerships or collaborations, if there are any, are you most excited about or are you pursuing to support your expansion in the Philippines? We're, well, we have a colleague there who's helping us. Her name is Desi. So I think she has a lot of ideas in relation on how we can use this platform for institutions or organisations and even for individuals and especially for institutions and corporates. You could use this platform for your regular recurrent training. It's provide you the skillet scalability for you to do so in a speed that is needed and because of the tracking mechanism that we have. You could see whether somebody is actually, you know, really following the right kind of tracks to complete or whether they're just bluffing their way through and so forth. And this is quite valuable for most corporates basically when it comes to auditing and reporting and managing their talent, especially Lazy Arena. How could users, you know, use Outclass? Is it downloadable through Apple Play or Google and Android, or is this just a site? It is a site, we make it a site on purpose because we want this platform to be able to reach to rural areas and so forth. And we built this platform with both low bandwidth so that we make sure that education is accessible and affordable to everybody. And you can watch our videos even at at low connectivity areas when you can't watch YouTube. So that's the whole idea behind it. It's it can fit in various kind of devices. You could start at home. Using your computer to to take, you know, to take a course and so forth. And then you can continue using your mobile phone and you can continue at in in the office with another computer. So it's it's very, very flexible and a job. I you know more Executive director of AL class Irene, good to have you on the show. Thank you.To view or add a comment, sign in
