The Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice (NSSCJ) is a transformative platform that unites climate advocates, practitioners, and scholars to address pressing climate justice issues. Hosted by Chuka University in collaboration with the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), this symposium fosters critical discussions on equitable climate solutions. Participants from the Consortium of Universities from the Mt. Kenya East Region, including Meru University of Science and Technology, University of Embu, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Kirinyaga University, Tharaka University, and Karatina University, engage in knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and youth-led climate action. Dr. Ingrid Waldron, Professor and HOPE Chair in Peace and Health at McMaster University's Global Peace and Social Justice Program, along with Dr. Zobia Jawed, a Senior Research Fellow in the same program and a Faculty Member at the Faculty of Engineering, is leading a research team seeking participation from Black community members residing in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area for a study aimed at enhancing capacity for climate change preparedness. Participation will involve attending a three-hour climate change preparedness workshop session, which will be audio-recorded for research purposes.
