Sepsis is at the heart of intensive care(ICU) réanimation in French (# Bring the life again). Intensive Care is a new and badly understood medical specialty and care. ICU originates in the 50s from the management of infection (poliomyelitis, internal medicine) and anesthesiology (perioperative management). It enables patients to survive in a state where "in nature" they would have died. This explains the two names intensive care and resuscitation. All organs fail to a greater or lesser extent. 🔥Sepsis is often very sudde going from a banal infection to "something else" without realizing it at first. It's an emergency => intensive care (ICU), often life-saving (20-50% mortality). But there is no specific treatment for sepsis. 🔥It's already one of the leading causes of mortality, suffering (of families, loved ones, recovering) and the cost. (20% of global mortality, 0.5% of US GDP, 0.3% linked to hospitalization in intensive care and convalescence for long months/weeks). 🌟 Insights from Meeting on the Med 2024! 🌟 This past week, CCRM Nordic delegates had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the evolving landscape of Regenerative medicine at the esteemed Meeting on the Med conference in Rome. It was a vibrant gathering of minds, buzzing with discussions on groundbreaking healthcare solutions. 🤝 Networking and Collaborations: It was exhilarating to meet potential clients, service providers, and suppliers from around the globe. The energy was palpable, and the possibilities for future collaborations are endless. Excited about what lies ahead! 🎤 Panel Discussions: A highlight was witnessing Jim Lund, CBDO at CCRM Nordic, participate in a riveting panel ‘Developing the ATMP Ecosystem of the Future’ that captivated the audience. 🔍 Key Topics Explored: Joint HTA/JCA Initiatives: A hot topic that sparked intense discussions on how harmonized technology assessments could revolutionize patients’ access of ATMPs. Allogenic ATMPs: While still challenging, the progress in cracking the complexities of allogeneic therapies was evident and remains a critical area of focus as it will hopefully allow for lowered COGS and shorter turnaround times. Patient-Centric Approaches: Hearteningly, patient welfare remains at the core of all discussions and innovations. The talk by @OPIE JONES FOUNDATION moved the audience and words from last year’s conference still echoed in participants' brains “These patients are either the first generation to live or the last one to die” which emphasizes the importance of Joint HTA/JCA Initiatives. In 2014, I stepped into the massive Orlando convention center for my first HIMSS convention, and my first thought was, "This place is huge, it must be over a mile end to end." My second thought was, "I wore the wrong shoes for this." My most memorable moments were Hillary Clinton's keynote and stressing the need more transparency in our health care system, and the after party of the lively Blues Brothers tribute at the Hard Rock Cafe. I'm sure there were more but we're talking 10 years ago and my memory isn't as sharp as it once was, so I took to the internet to look back at some of the key takeaways people were talking about back then. --Most hospitals have achieved the first stage of meaningful use. --HIMSS featured the Interoperability Showcase. --The shift towards enterprise imaging as it marked a significant move away from traditional departmental data silos towards a more integrated, efficient healthcare system.
