Today, we're shining a spotlight on BaoBai's Harvest, one of the many participating farms in our Big River Farms program! BaoBai's Harvest is run by owners Bao and Bai Vue. They have more than a decade of experience in community gardening here in the Twin Cities and sell their organic produce through our agency partners, The Good Acre's LEAFF program, and through Minneapolis Public Schools' Farm to School program. The name BaoBai's Harvest comes from the Hmong name for butterflies, an insect that serves as an indicator of a healthy natural ecosystem. "Our vision is to live in a world where our fruitful harvests come from the relationship that we have with our natural world," they told us. Early spring is a peaceful time until all the unwelcome garden visitors are on the move. The Red Lily Beetle is one that lily and fritillary grower’s dread. Now that chemicals to kill Red Lily Beetle have been taken off the market, a new approach is required. Grazers can provide an answer, if gardeners take early action to make lilies unattractive to these pests. With a unique combination of calcium solution and plant extracts, the Grazers G4 product upgrades the lily plant’s own natural defence mechanisms, when sprayed in advance on emerging shoots and leaves. Easy to apply and safe for everything in our environment, the Grazers G4 will dissuade rampaging Red Lily Beetles from landing on lilies and laying their eggs. Grazers G4 kills nothing and follows the Grazers philosophy of ‘Gardening for Wildlife’. Recommended and used by several professional lily growers. So, why not be prepared and get ahead of these predators now. Find Grazers G4 at your local garden centre or at www.grazers.co.uk

Introduce your children to gardening through a trip to a farm or botanical garden this summer. Here are a few benefits: 👩🌾 Children can learn about urban farming and meet some of the people who work there. 🪴 Learning the role of soil in a more impactful way than what was covered in class, can inspire them to grow their food source. 🐝 Kids can explore the farming ground, learn how fruit develops from seeds, and the role bees play in growing food, and view a real beehive. 🥦 Learn what food products are made from the crops grown on the farm. Any plans to go pick fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers from a farm this summer? For more summer adventures download Lou Adventures: https://lnkd.in/eZRrXsDx

I am a gardener. And each year, I plan, sow, plant, nurture, harvest, and cook my bounty. At the end of each year, I look back, at my plans, harvests, and saved food. I like to obsess, and record ALL MY harvests. Ounces, Pounds, etc. all of it. AND, compare to prior years. This video is a look back at my year in the garden, the harvests, and comparing to last year. I like to assess what worked, and what didn't. Look forward to my next video, where I discuss my plans for 2024, and why I am growing what I am, and why I am NOT growing, some varieties, too! #gardening #garden #gardentips #yearinreview #harvest #homesteading https://lnkd.in/eBFWrEBE
