Passionate about Culture & EDI | LGBTQ Network Co-Chair 🌈 | Head of Volunteer Management at Bi Pride UK 💜
Continuing the conversation about staff networks and allyship… wearing your rainbow lanyard is more than a fashion statement (it is much prettier than the boring plain ones too)! 🌈 They actually are a visible signal to your colleagues and a powerful gesture that you are an ally. It also is important for organisations to offer rainbow lanyards to show and demonstrate they are inclusive employers. The rainbow lanyard demonstrates you are a colleague who is open and safe for LGBTQ colleagues. Who is an ally and showing visible support towards this. It’s giving permission for colleagues to be themselves with you. It can also demonstrate an understanding of hardship for the community and that you are willing to make a stand with and for them. It might seem like a small gesture but it makes a huge difference. Wear your rainbow lanyards with PRIDE 🌈 #rainbowlanyard #diversity #inclusion #lgbtqia #lgbt #staffnetworks

This month we celebrated #PrideMonth, a time to honour the LGBTQ community's history and resilience. But let's go beyond the rainbow and delve into the history that fuels our fight for equality. The Stonewall Riots of 1969, a pivotal moment in LGBTQ activism, were sparked by a courageous stand against police harassment. This ignited a movement for equal rights and acceptance, and continues to inspire us today. However, Pride is about more than just celebrating identity. It's about creating a truly inclusive environment. But how do we do that? a. Educate yourself: Learn about LGBTQ history, terminology and experiences. b. Challenge bias: Be mindful of unconscious biases and create a safe space for open conversations. c. Advocate for equality: Support LGBTQ rights and initiatives within your company and community. d. Be an ally. Speak up against discrimination and promote inclusivity. Let's celebrate the progress made and continue working towards a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to be their authentic selves; not just during Pride month but all year round. #happypridemonth #pride #lgbtq #lgbtq #loveislove #inclusionforall #stonewall #fridayfeeling

There are few corporate initiatives as important as creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ community. According to EY, Gen Z is six times more likely to identify as LGBTQ compared to Gen X, and with Gen Z making up 30% of the workforce by 2030, this underscores the growing necessity for inclusive policies in the workplace. While we celebrate and uplift the progress that has been made over the past few decades, we simultaneously acknowledge that we as a society have a long way to go in ensuring that every workplace embraces diversity, promotes equity, and empowers all individuals. Our work in this space inspires deep hope for what's to come. We see the tides of change growing stronger each and every year as forward-looking organizations take bold steps towards a future that celebrates everyone. #IgnitingBoldFutures #Inclusivity #PRIDE #LGBTQ

How can you foster allyship this pride month and beyond? 🤝🌈 Advocating for your colleagues who are members of the LGBTQ community is crucial in achieving true inclusion in the workplace. With 46% of LGBTQ workers saying they are closeted at their work, we must do better to ensure everyone can be their true selves. One way to be an active ally is to practice inclusive behaviours, act fairly as both colleagues and leaders, and speak up when we encounter bias or discrimination. Try using the STOP model when you need to stand up against exclusion: 💬 Say something 🧑 Tell someone ❤️ Offer support ☝️ Provide a diversion By being an ally, you can truly make a difference and help shape a more inclusive workplace. #Pride #Pride2024 #LGBTQ

🏳️🌈 Embracing Diversity and Inclusion 🏳️🌈 Let's talk about something important: LGBTQ inclusion. It's about recognizing and celebrating the beautiful diversity of human relationships and identities. Love knows no boundaries, and every individual deserves respect, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. In a world where understanding and acceptance matter, let's stand up for LGBTQ rights. It's not about forcing beliefs, but about creating a society where everyone can be themselves without fear or prejudice. It's about love, support, and the freedom to be who you are. So, let's spread kindness, foster inclusivity, and work together to build a world where all voices are heard, valued, and respected. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #LGBTQ #InclusionMatters
