You're invited to our upcoming webinar about the European Commission's communication on the 2040 climate target. On 8 February, our carbon market experts, Anders Nordeng and Ingvild Sørhus, will address the following topics: ▪️ Key takeaways from the 2040 target communication and the accompanying impact assessment. ▪️ How this will affect the carbon market: already under current parameters the EU ETS market balance is set to be very short in the period 2031-2040. A likely 90% headline target for 2040 will mean even tighter #EUA supply trajectory. ▪️ What are the alternatives for the emitters? ▪️ The upcoming political/legislative process: Some EU member states have voiced support; we can expect them to start negotiations to agree on a common council position. In the European Parliament, that process will likely start in earnest after the upcoming elections. This presentation will be followed by a 15-minute Q&A. Register now to save your spot ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eZF7Tesu Feel free to share your questions in advance in the comments section!

🌍🔥 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤! 🔥🌍 This week's climate headlines paint a stark picture of our planet's predicament. From the European court's ruling against Swiss government inaction on climate change, highlighting the urgency of accountability and justice, to the alarming revelation of March being the 10th consecutive hottest month on record, it's evident that the time for action is now. The UN's call to 'raise voices' ahead of elections underscores the critical role of public participation in driving climate policy. Meanwhile, the confirmation of unabated greenhouse gas emissions and the controversial advancement of EU anti-deforestation legislation emphasize the pressing need for global collaboration and decisive measures to combat the climate crisis. Let's heed these warnings and work together towards a sustainable future. #ClimateAction #GlobalWarming #ClimateJustice #Sustainability #ActNow

Strategic Framing, Financial Support and Capacity-Building Could Raise #Climate Ambitions The world’s technologically advanced countries have called for the adoption of a ‘green growth’ model of economic development in international climate negotiations. But advocacy alone will not motivate countries to protect the climate. Policymakers should highlight other benefits of climate action, such as for #health and #food security, researchers recommend in a new study. https://lnkd.in/eGEmn9S9
