Fashion often reflects societal changes connected to evolving needs and desires. This is the case of the Shoulder Pads. As World War II began in 1939, shoulder pads came to symbolize fashion's response to changing gender roles. With men away at war, women stepped into roles traditionally held by men, working in factories, flying planes, driving trucks, and serving in the armed forces. Shoulder pads became more than just a fashion choice; they were about women asserting themselves, claiming their space, and advocating for equality in the workplace. For more insights, check out my article "Shoulder Pads: More Than a Fashion Statement—A Symbol of Empowerment" on my Substack, Style Sessions. #imageconsultant #stylist #executivepresence

🧐 Why are we STILL talking about women’s fashion choices in politics? Since when did politicians become fashion influencers? I don’t recall anyone discussing the matching navy and grey suits among male politicians either. And the real kicker? The image below is from Grazia UK, a women’s magazine. So the subtext feels like "We need to keep you silly women interested by talking about fashion." Really? 🤦♀️ It’s genuinely offensive. Can we please focus on what truly matters – their policies, decisions, and the impact they make? Let’s stop reducing powerful women to their clothing choices. It's 2024, folks. Let's elevate the conversation. #Equality #diversity #womeninpower

Co-Founder/CEO OME Gear | Creator of Innovative Outdoor Products | Podcast Host | TEDx Speaker | Keynote Speaker | Champion of Women Inventors | Investor
stacey m. pierce and I have exhibited OME Gear at the Outdoor Retailer Show for a couple years now. It is typically our practice while there to walk the show, specifically looking for and connecting with other women founders. We were encouraged to find a good handful of female founders with products like chapstick, food products, and apparel. BUT, what was shocking to us is that there weren't ANY other women with hard good products like gear, equipment, etc. None. Not to say that those women aren't out there, but this show is known as THE show for the outdoor industry. If you are or know of any women in the hard goods space who are doing cool things, please tag you/them here - we want to connect!! #entrepreneurship #femalefounders #womeninbusiness #womenhelpingwomen #femaleleaders #womenfounders
