One of our batches, INEN22, based in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, ended recently. This particular batch had a first group of 45 students that ended last year and a second one with a new group of kids that started in July 2023 and ended in early March 2024. We sat down with the batch manager, Priya Ramani, to ask general questions about the batch and the excellent tutors behind it.
Our first question was, how do batches end? The duration of each batch depends on several factors, including performance tests that the students take periodically and, most importantly, tutor observations regarding the students' skills and learning. For this particular batch, we also considered what the school wanted for its students: to improve their spoken English skills.
When asked about the most difficult part of the process, Priya mentioned that it was challenging to build a strong community with the students and keep them motivated. Nevertheless, she and the twelve excellent tutors successfully created a unique, strong-knit relationship with the students and the school's teacher representatives.
If there is anything that we learnt from this experience, it is that progress looks different for different people and that it isn't appropriate to measure success conventionally.
We are immensely proud of the incredible work these members put into this batch; seeing their efforts become tangible progress for the students is truly incredible. We're excited to start a new group of students from this school and see where this journey takes us!
