People always ask me, "What do you do for a living?" The term "account manager" isn't all that descriptive and can entail relationship management, sales, or acting as a liaison between clients and internal stakeholders. If you're not in the industry, this is all just jargon. My job involves those things at different times, sure, but it doesn't convey the IDEA of what I DO.
A little over a year ago, our then potential clients, now friends at Blue Ox came to us with a vision of elevating their brand. Like the term "account manager," selling "tow bars and weight distributions hitches" didn't convey the real IDEA of what their company does. What they do is enable their customers to connect with their families and friends in nature while reducing the stress of towing. Throughout this project, I got the opportunity to make new friends and form bonds with the folks at Blue Ox. I got to strategize and dig into what it is that makes their company and the people behind it tick. Together we unearthed the stories behind their customers and coordinated a multi-state shoot that brought to life the IDEA that drives the engineering and care behind Blue Ox products.
So if you want the short answer of "what I do for a living," - sure, I'm a strategist, a problem solver, a producer, and a liaison between my clients and my internal creative teams. If you want to see what that means, check out this video.
Towing is more than great hitches, baseplates and tow bars — it’s a way of life. And Blue Ox Products knows every one of their products helps campers, RVers and outdoor enthusiasts live their lives to the fullest. For this week’s #WorkWednesday, see how our “Pull of Adventure” campaign video — filmed this summer in Wyoming, Idaho, Missouri and Arkansas — invites the audience on an adventure.
