I have led travel courses over the past 15 years and have guided students in Japan, China, the UK, Jamaica, Ghana, Sierra Leone. Most recently, I travelled with 17 students and faculty from Lawrence University to The Gambia. People often ask me what it is that my students do during a Field Experience travel class. It’s easy it is for us to get tribal when we’re trying to change things for the better in a tough environment but it doesn’t always serve our purpose.
