FEELING POWERFUL Feeling anger can be empowering, like unleashing an inner hulk. But have you ever considered that beneath that anger lies a deep-seated pain? As a single woman entrepreneur on a journey to financial independence and love, it's crucial to recognize the role that unaddressed pain plays in your life. Sometimes, instead of feeling the pain of being betrayed or hurt, you may find yourself consumed by anger. It becomes a defense mechanism, shielding you from vulnerability and hindering your ability to heal. Letting go of this negative emotion can be daunting; It requires checking in with yourself and embracing your true emotions. Recognize that there are primary emotions, like anger, joy, sadness, and trust, which are our initial reactions to external situations. Secondary emotions come after these initial reactions and often intensify our emotional experiences. Unfortunately, clinging onto secondary emotions can be toxic, affecting not only your personal connections but also your ability to trust and take risks in business or relationships. Imagine staying in your shell, not risking vulnerability or sharing your unique feelings. Being genuine is something people truly appreciate. Whether in business or personal relationships, authenticity is a magnet that attracts trust and meaningful connections. Sitting in front of her, I sense the inner conflict she carries. Both determination and exhaustion, with a touch of sadness lingering in her eyes. As I sit down to share this part of my journey this morning, I can't help but acknowledge the weight of emotions that come with ending relationships for the sake of my mental health. It's a topic that's often overlooked in mental health conversations, yet it's one that many of us grapple with in our quest for inner peace and well-being. Let's talk about the raw, unfiltered truth. Ending relationships – whether they're friendships, familial ties, separating with your employer or romantic connections – is hard. It's not just a matter of cutting ties; it's about untangling emotions, confronting fears and finding the courage to put ourselves first. I remember the moment I realized that a particular relationship was no longer serving me. There were signs – subtle at first then glaringly obvious. It wasn't about blame or fault; it was about recognizing that our paths had diverged and holding on was causing more harm than good. The decision to step away wasn't easy. It was accompanied by a whirlwind of emotions – guilt for prioritizing myself, sadness for what could have been and a deep-seated fear of loneliness. It felt like I was unraveling a part of my identity, questioning who I was without that relationship defining me. But amidst the chaos of emotions, there was a glimmer of clarity. I realized that my mental health mattered more than holding onto something out of obligation or familiarity. It was about reclaiming my voice, setting boundaries and choosing growth over comfort. The journey wasn't linear. There were moments of doubt when nostalgia clouded my judgment and moments of strength when I stood firm in my decision. It took time to navigate the waves of emotions, to find solace in solitude and to rebuild a sense of self-worth that wasn't dependent on external validation. To anyone reading this who is on a similar journey, know that you're not alone. Your emotions are valid and it's okay to feel a mix of conflicting feelings. Give yourself permission to grieve, to heal and to embrace the journey of self-discovery. Surround yourself with a support system that uplifts you, whether it's friends who lend a listening ear or professionals who offer guidance. Remember that healing is a process and it's okay to take it one step at a time. As I reflect on my journey this Easter Weekend, I'm filled with gratitude for the strength I found within myself and the lessons learned along the way. Ending relationships for mental health reasons is not easy but it's a courageous step towards a life filled with authenticity, self-love and inner peace. Today's gloomy weather mirrors my reflective mood prompted by the news about the recent assassination attempt on the former president of America. I promise I won't delve into politics, except to say that acts of violence are a symptom of polarisation, which creates division and fuels intense emotions. It's a state from which we are easily manipulated. When our emotions are heightened and we disconnect from our heart space, making a balanced response becomes difficult. Our primal survival instincts take over and we forget we have a choice in how to respond. I noticed reading the recent news momentarily heightened my own emotions in an unhelpful way. Did it affect you too? Thankfully I have learned I don't always need to act on my feelings, as I know them to be created by my thoughts about what happened rather than the act itself. How then can we bring ourselves back to equilibrium? Do we need to avoid the news? Not necessarily, though you might consider limiting your intake if it tends to overwhelm you. Instead, we can try the following: We can ask ourselves one simple question ... 💛 What would Love do? This simple but powerful question never fails to bring us back to connection. Once reconnected, we can think more clearly and act with more grace. In fact, quite often we find we don't have to act at all, apart from taking a few breaths as the metaphorical thought storm passes and clear skies return. Sometimes, however, it can be the fuel we need to make sure our life's work will be for the good of mankind. COMING SOON In case you missed the news... How do we not rise to the bait? I was wondering what to write about this week even though I knew the topic had to be around our sense of calm, zen, quiet, and inner peace, as this is the place I like to be and normally am! However over the last few weeks my energy has been up and down the rollercoaster of frequencies, and my mind has been right behind it. Yet, I allowed, yes it can only happen if you give it permission, for people to get under my skin, I allowed my mind to go down a very long rabbit hole, I allowed myself to be totally triggered to the extent I was feeling sorry for myself! Good news is since we had the Eclipse on Monday I have felt calmer, untriggerable (if that is a word) and back to my source essence. What about you? Even though I consciously knew what was happening there was a part of me that couldn't resist. I just could not bring the pendulum into a calm flow and detach from my own personal drama which surprised me somewhat as I can normally rise above. So what is the key to the source here? Our energy - without a doubt, and what is one thing that destroys our energy, our thoughts! And what do we need to change our thoughts? A powerful intention of what you do want. Underlying our thoughts are our beliefs which are so engrained as a protective mechanism wrapped firmly around us just so we don't get hurt, again! So once out of the drama wouldn't it be great to surrender and let these old beliefs die once and for all? So I have a couple of questions for you to ruminate on; What do you want right now, and I mean what do you really, really want? And in order to have whatever that is What are you willing to let die to receive it? Can you imagine not having any fears, no triggers, no BS stories, no limiting beliefs? Wouldn't that be blissful? Imagine what more you would get done, how you would feel within yourself, how much laughter you would hear, how amazing your relationships would be, what else you would create? BLISS! And frankly there is nothing stopping any of us having exactly what we want. So set your intention, let go of that something/belief that is no longer serving you for your highest good and step into your greatness, your sense of bliss, your inner source and watch the magic begin. I didn’t had the luxury to have a nervous breakdown!!♥️ The Rolling Stones sang about a woman headed for her 19th nervous breakdown. That may have been an exercise in cruel hyperbole, but I have known a number of good people who suffered an emotional collapse. “Nervous breakdown” is more a figurative term than literal. Each of us has an imaginative map that we trust conforms to the world we know. We have devised our map based on previous experiences, future expectations, assumptions of what our family, friends, neighbors and coworkers expect from us, and our own expectations of the emotional and financial rewards the world will pay us for our efforts. Our map also contains an expectation of returned affection from those people we have given so much of our own affection. We have been taught that we can expect an equal return for all of our physical and emotional efforts. We will get what we give. But if we experience a profound betrayal –if we lose a job where we have invested decades of toil, or if an intensely loved partner is unfaithful, or a loved one passes away—we often feel unmoored. What we are experiencing does not match up with long held beliefs about fairness, loyalty, and reciprocal trust. Our worldview is shattered. What type are you? -------------------------------- The world is full of people of different kinds- and different breeds- but there is one kind who often leads more fulfilling life than others. I will tell you which. The first kind of people are the ones who always try to overstate. We all have an ideal version of ourselves—a mental picture of the person we aspire to become. These people project their desired image onto others... They want people to see their desired image in them, but they are not there yet. Note that I said overstate... not overestimate. It's a good thing when you overestimate yourself and have confidence in your abilities. But overstating them to others when you look otherwise is silly. So these people often come off as pretending. And when they don't come off as pretending... they set the bar for themselves so high that they can't jump through it. I have been there. In my early professional days... I would try to subtly project my desired image onto others... So that they know what I am capable of. But it often led to them having high expectations of me and then me not being able to meet those expectations. So down the road... it always led to trouble and emotional drama. It was a bad idea. Now, there is the second group of people (a lot of the population falls into this group). People who always try to understate their skills and strengths... Sometimes to come off as humble... And sometimes because they are inflicted by a widely spread disease called 'imposter syndrome'. I bet a lot of you suffer from this disease. I still have not been able to recover from it totally. So what these people do is- short-sell themselves, play safe, and avoid claiming more. So what the universe does? Give them what they asked for... little. Then, deep in their hearts, they feel like they are not getting what they 'deserve'. A trap. So both groups, those who overstate and those who understate- are not the ones who are most fulfilled and at peace with themselves. The ones that experience much less emotional drama and much more inner peace are those who show up authentically... Those who just be themselves and others have their own experience... Those who don't try to project themselves in the minds of others in any way... They just do/say what feels right to them... They don't seek approval and validation from others... They are authentic- and these are the people who don't get trapped and keep progressing swiftly. Authenticity is powerful, Reader. So be authentic and keep taking action... there is nothing in this world away from your reach. Until next time.
