I was working with a Regional Manager on 2 different open territories. For one, he was looking for a more seasoned sales person with specific call point experience. That particular market was more competitive. For the other territory, he was a bit more open to a slightly different background/experience of the rep. Same product, same call points, same sales cycle...but the RM understood the unique needs for his team. Not every territory/market requires the same talent. When a manager is leading multiple direct-reports covering several geographies that are all different, it's tough to have a single candidate profile when there is an opening. This is where the recruiter (internal or external) must truly understand the different needs requirements of each manager and why they are what they are, or else it will be a challenge and a longer hiring cycle.

Their legacy system is trash, processes are antiquated, but it’s “good enough”? As reps, it’s easy to see that a simple change could bring a big ROI. But often times, people accept bad even when good is up for grabs. Same concept applies for the job you don’t like. The job that pays well, but not your worth.
