🎓 Congratulations to all our graduates! 🎓 For anyone unable to attend our pre-commencement event this year, it was a wonderful night filled with positivity, laughter, and smiles. 🎉 🥂 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our graduates throughout their journey. It truly takes a team, and you have been the best teammates they could have asked for. Please continue to support them as they transition to new roles and continue in their current roles more effectively. #Graduation #Teamwork #Success

I help Gen Z navigate their careers 👏 | LinkedIn Top Voice 💙 | TEDx Speaker | Head of Social Media | Consultant
Some things I wish I told myself as a #firstgen college grad ready to enter the #WorldofWork ⬇️ ✅ It’s okay if you’re still building your network and are feeling behind your peers I didn’t have many role models in my industry when I graduated college. It took YEARS to build up a solid network of trusted professionals and mentors. The process is ongoing and will last your career lifetime. ✅ It’s okay if you feel like you’re entering a world of unknowns When I was graduating, it really hit me that I had a LOT to learn. I had to learn how to adjust to the workplace, to being a full-time professional, to managing my finances and planning for a future, to navigating landlord conversations and other difficult interactions, to maintaining my living space and building my business…WHEW. ✅ It’s okay if you’re feeling like an imposter But, don’t let it consume you. EVERYONE feels some form of imposter syndrome at some point in their career. If you’re not uncomfortable, making mistakes, asking questions, or feeling like you could be doing “more,” you’re not learning or giving yourself space to grow. Embrace the discomfort, as hard as it may be. To all my first-gen college grads out there, congratulations on your INCREDIBLE achievements 👏 You are incredible, and I can’t wait to see your impact in professional spaces. TAKE. UP. SPACE. 👏

Last week I said goodbye to my role at UTS Careers I went into this role as a UTS student, and came out of it not only as an alumni, but also with a lifetime of lessons learnt, and many people I am grateful to have met. Working at UTS Careers helped me fully into my career with both support and grace, learning the ins and outs of working in communications, picking up new softwares and skills, and trying new things along the way. Some of the highlights were: ❤️ Working together with both Siyao Yang (Sia) and Katerina Costa to do some new, interesting, and beautifully designed things with our socials 💙 The many valuable conversations and learning moments when it came to editing and writing alongside Mia Casey (and the many, many, email puns when putting together student emails) 🩶 Working with Nicole Woll (and Sofie Talevski) to build up our audience and our confidence on the LinkedIn page, trying something relatively new to me and seeing how it has flourished 🤍 The incredible support from Leonie Hunjak and then Lauren Robertson to tackle so many fun, interesting, and challenging blog topics, projects, and campaigns 🖤 The many wonderful students, staff, alumni and people I’ve interviewed, collaborated with, and supported in sharing their career stories ❤️ Witnessing, supporting, and getting the chance to capture an amazing team in action as they worked together, ran events, and helped lift up students to explore their futures. Finally, of course, I have loved the many coffee catchups, lunches, desk chats, and office laughs. 🫶🏻 Working for UTS Careers has taught me so much about work life, and has set a foundation for the rest of my career. Funnily enough, writing weekly blogs about career advice made it difficult to ignore the advice itself. But beyond the practical career skills, I learned it’s okay to not have your whole career figured out. It’s okay to have many interests instead of a single career passion. It’s okay to change, take on new roles, step into new spaces, and try new things. Your career does not have to be set in stone. You just have to take the next step. 🚶🏻♀️ I’m thankful for everyone I’ve met on this journey so far, and excited for a new chapter with Stepping Stone House. To new beginnings 🎉 #UTSstaff #UTSCareers #thankyou #farewell

This week's Career Specialist Tip of the Week is brought to you by Jennifer Katz, Director, Center for Career Advancement for the School of Business and Information Technology. TIP: "The SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) framework can help organize your short- and long-term professional goals and keep you on track as you work towards achieving them. But don't forget to build in development activities you'll genuinely enjoy, rewards, and time to celebrate wins and victories along the way. You'll be more likely to stick with your journey and make progress if you're engaged and having fun than if you feel like you're just working through a to-do list." #PurdueGlobal #PurdueGlobalProud
