One more time for the people in the back!!! I am literally in a group chat with legal nurses who could be considered “competitors”. We share ideas, talk through situations, ask for recommendations, and offer to help each other when one is overloaded. (We also laugh a lot 🙃) They are secure in the their abilities, as am I. The real competition is between you and yourself. Are you doing things everyday to become successful? 💥 waking up early 💥 consistent marketing 💥 following up with potential clients 💥 looking for ways to stand out 💥 staying current with recognized standards of care Collaboration vs. competition #legalnurseconsultant #MEconsulting #collaboration

Happy Halloween! We want our campus communities to have fun while staying safe tonight. Here are some important tips to keep in mind: Travel in Groups: When attending Halloween parties or events, go with friends and make a pact to stick together. Designated Driver: If you're celebrating off-campus, arrange for a designated driver or use rideshare services. Never drink and drive. Travel Well-Lit Paths: If you're trick-or-treating (because college students can have fun too!), stick to well-lit areas and watch for traffic. Attention Drivers: If you plan on driving tonight, pay extra attention to crosswalks and keep an eye out for pedestrians. Go slow! Let's have a spooktacular time while keeping safety a top priority. Have a happy and safe Halloween! 🎉🎃🚨 #HalloweenSafety

There are some issues in this story. 1) Taking over $25,000 in student loans to make $13,000 a year is illogical. People need to stop doing that. I'd argue that her game income is a trade skill and it makes her more money than her writing education does. Logically, that means her writing is actually her expensive hobby, not her games. If your education choice leads to an expensive hobby like so many others, stop paying for that education thinking it is anything more. 2) Based on math, they have a household income of $133,000. After an estimated 30% tax (federal, state, misc), they end up with an income of only $7,758 per month. That isn't sustainable with over $8,000 a month in expenses. Dave Ramsey would not be impressed. 3) Everyone knows that the "game master" of Dungeons & Dragons is a Dungeon Master. So DM would be the correct abbreviation, not GM. The DMD site uses the correct language, but this article for some reason uses GM, which is definitely a thing but in other environments. DMing is definitely a critical role in the gameplay of D&D, so I am curious how good/professionally paid DMs are. @MannShorts ( https://lnkd.in/gRGdkEsc )does some hilarious videos of how strangely D&D campaigns can go. 4) She doesn't actually make $37k a year leading D&D games. The headline is wrong. Regardless, I'm actually curious what her "hourly" equivalent rate is hosting games. $375 for 3 hours is a hearty rate, but there's probably a good amount of prep that goes into hosting and some overhead (business administration, advertising, etc) to consider. But also, $37k isn't more than the median income in Utah, and includes secondary employment, so I hope she isn't working 60 hours a week to hit that. I do like the idea of game-based careers. I am a huge fan of gamification too. There is probably a lot of happiness to be had there, when financially viable and sustainable. I have a couple of old friends who have opened game-based shops (one game store, one game based brewery) and they are still functioning over a decade late, so it can be done. Cheers to them! I just don't like how people pitch things poorly or incompletely. This was written by a hooman.
People are surprised to learn that 36-year-old Mari Murdock is a professional game master, a role in which she organizes and narrates tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons. Since 2021, Murdock’s main source of income has been working for Dungeon Master Direct, a Utah-based company that specializes in online and in-person tabletop roleplaying game sessions that range from $375 to $750. She makes $24,000 as a dungeon master for the company, plus another $13,000 teaching writing at nearby Westminster University in Salt Lake City. Here's how Murdock was able to turn her hobby into a career: https://cnb.cx/4bbRu9i

I've resigned from my position as a Creative at Apple after 5 years in the company. This time last year I was preparing to go to California to embark on my second career experience. I didn't think that same year I would fall into a work-related depression that would cause me to seek therapy, take leave for a month, and ultimately resign, but here I am today on the eve of my last day in the position. When I started Apple in 2018 as a Product Zone specialist at Corte Madera, I always envisioned being a Creative Pro and eventually making it to corporate working with photo or music in some capacity. I even made a Keynote and presented it to the team with the aspirations of being a Creative Director one day, hoping with Apple. About 2 years in, I began to doubt whether this would happen. During the earlier part of the pandemic I used my time and internal tools to reach out to different folks and teams hoping to get the attention of someone with my portfolio and website on hand. Dozens of canned responses and "You're not qualified" conversations later - I eventually landed a career experience with the video team with Apple Arcade and App Store team. It was amazing - one of the higher moments of my tenure - but it was temporary and thus I had to consider if then was my time to leave. But then, in 2021, I got a promotion to move to New York as a Creative and I'd hoped the energy of the city and the surplus of opportunity would work in my favor. It did not. Instead, fighting the uphill battle of my skillset being minimized and under-utilized, roles being unfulfilled, and a downsizing in Today At Apple, took its toll on me, worsening after returning from my second career experience. Here at Apple we're tasked with doing our best work. In my role - as good as redundant - the meaning shifts and dealing with ambiguity takes up more energy than doing actual work a lot of times. My fellow Creatives have seen our role get reduced to a skeleton of what we signed up for. It almost feels like a punishment, and transitioning to other roles in store is just as challenging - if not more challenging - than getting into Apple in the first place. I say this to say...There's a lot of work to be done on the retail side to make sure employees feel supported and developed, especially with regards to the Today At Apple team. Many of my peers are suffering in silence unable to do their jobs but we smile and carry on - continuing to shine a light just to stand outside of it. I'm thankful for the leaders/colleagues who've made this experience beautiful. I'm glad to return home to Baltimore with opportunties that align with my mission. I'm also open to freelance opportunities. My website is cousintito.com. Thank you.

WHY ARE INVITATIONS TO PLAY ACTIVITIES IMPORTANT? Invitation to play is a great way to spark the imagination and give the child a different direction of play. It expands their way of thinking and helps them to flex those creative muscles. It’s also a great way for kids to discover different ways to play with their current toys and how to combine different elements, experiment and use their imagination.
