With all of the appalling things that we have happening in the United States, the tenets of "duty, honor, and country" appear to be on the chopping block at the West Point. When an organization like West Point, takes such action something so symbolic and fundamental to the core of our national security and tosses its core values to the wind, then the national identity and all that belies a cohesive nation will begin to fall overtly and across the board. https://lnkd.in/gABdEmia

D Day Landings 6th June 1944 What are some of the key lessons we should be thankful for? 1. The Power of Allied Unity The Allied forces, comprising troops from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and several other nations, worked together towards a common goal. This unity and collaboration remind us of the importance and effectiveness of alliances in overcoming significant challenges. 2. The Importance of Planning and Strategy The meticulous planning and strategic foresight that went into the D-Day landings highlight the necessity of thorough preparation and careful coordination in achieving complex objectives. The intricate planning involved intelligence gathering, deception operations (like Operation Bodyguard), and the detailed logistics of coordinating a massive amphibious assault. 3. The Value of Sacrifice and Bravery The immense bravery and sacrifices made by the soldiers who participated in the D-Day landings are a powerful reminder of the human cost of war and the courage required to fight for freedom. 4. Technological and Tactical Innovation D-Day showcased the critical role of innovation in warfare. New technologies and tactics were developed and deployed, such as the use of airborne forces, specialised landing crafts (Higgins boats), and the artificial Mulberry Harbours. This lesson underscores the importance of innovation and adaptability in overcoming obstacles and achieving success. 5. The Endurance of Human Spirit The resilience and determination exhibited by the Allied forces during the D-Day landings exemplify the enduring human spirit in the face of adversity. This lesson is a powerful reminder of the strength and perseverance that can drive individuals and groups to accomplish extraordinary feats, even under the most challenging circumstances. We shall remember them 🙏

Your Beach Access to San Onofre State Park is at Risk – Sign the Petition Now! 👏 San Onofre State Beach is a treasured natural resource for millions of people from across Southern California and beyond. Since 1971, California has leased the 6.5-mile shoreline as a state park from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton for the sweetheart deal of $1 for the duration of the 50-year lease. That lease will expire on August 31 of this year and must meet new federal regulations that demand fair market value. The Surfrider Foundation appreciates and applauds the past and present leadership of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and California State Parks for their dedication to preserving this unique stretch of undeveloped coastline and their ongoing commitment to maintaining public access at San Onofre State Beach. While all parties involved in the lease renewal have publicly committed to maintaining public access, a federal statute (10 U.S. Code § 2667) now mandates fair market value for military land leases. This requirement, coupled with federal bureaucracy, could create complications despite the best of intentions. That’s why Surfrider is working with the San Onofre Parks Foundation and local stakeholders to protect the public’s ability to access and enjoy this iconic shoreline, as well as the long-term preservation and natural resilience of San Onofre State Beach. Take action now to ensure that San Onofre State Beach continues to be accessible to all for generations to come. https://hubs.la/Q02vrsww0 #SaveSanO #SurfriderFoundation #TheOceanNeedsMoreFriends
