Plant For Change = A Harvest Of Freedom. Our world at large is in need of a return to local —created & maintained by all of us. New food systems & new networks of exchange, built by us the seed planters, the farmers, the earth caretakers, through local family farms, stores, & communities. How do we start & continue for many: -plant a garden (pots, beds, backyards, empty land with permissions) -land share & rentals (if you have acreage, think about opening up for sharing to local growers with contracts) -start a pma or co-op with other growers -save and share seeds (heirloom, organic, open pollinated) -buy from farmers markets & stands or drive to local farms in your area. -buy bulk organics with friends/family from local resources -pay in cash & trade if/when possible -donate time (time bank) for exchange of goods. -gift to those in need (injury/disability/illness) Self-sufficiency returned to us, by us! @PLANTFORCHANGE #harvestoffreedom https://lnkd.in/gmxdjhEu (Come Make Change With Us!🌱🌿🌳)

I love gift giving. I especially love it when I’m able to put thoughtfulness and meaning into a gift. Recently I assistant with organizing our branch staff appreciation gifts where I was able to take a small cash value and add value added through thoughtfulness and meaning. Our branch has a focus of economic development in the agriculture and agri-food sector in Manitoba. The gifts chosen complement our work in a variety of ways. 1. One of the roots of economic development is supporting local. An assortment products that are produced and made locally were chosen. 2. Items were made from locally grown food where value has been added. 3. Products chosen are produced and made from a variety of regions across the province. 4. Manitoba’s agriculture sector is diverse. These products were selected based on using diverse Manitoba ingredients, from a wide assortment of animal and plant products. 5. Something I learned from my mom, the use of reusable gift wrap or packaging 🥰 I think the staff appreciated the gift as much as I appreciated putting them together. #manitoba #agriculture #econdev #appreciation #MBAg #MBAgrifood

Accelerated Business Development and deployment of Blue and Green technologies | Climate Solutions | Sustainability Implementation | Water Security | Circular Economy Acceleration | Super-Collaboration Partnerships |
Have you ever seen a single "giant" tomato plant yielding thousands of cherry tomatoes in one growing season? Earlier this year Siobhan Shaw joined our Power-up Monday Changemakers Co-lab meetings led by Melissa O'Mara. As we took turn sharing our Big 3 Goals for the week/month/quarter, Siobhan kept mentioning her "Tomato Volcano" grant applications. I was intrigued by that term and finally asked Siobhan to sent me some information. Wow! was I surprised and impressed by what Growing To Give ® (G2G) had started to deploy in Canada, then Washington State, and most recently in Arizona: high-yield (patented) sustainable growing systems requiring 90% less water, no chemicals, no weeding, and minimum labor! Beyond my business focus on the acceleration of Blue (water) and Green technologies for my clients, I believe in supporting non-profit organizations that make a difference and have a significant impact in my local community. I have been on the board of Akron Cooperative Farms (ACF) for several years, supporting their mission of providing a sustainable urban green space to grow food for local families (many of them came as refugees). SO, fast forwarding to today, I'm happy to report that I just brought G2G their first Corporate Sponsor - for the benefit of Akron Cooperative Farms. ACF will start using community-size tomato volcanoes in the new hoop house in April 2024! Beginning with several varieties of tomatoes, and adding other nutritious vine plants: peppers, beans, and more. We are looking for more sponsors to substantially increase fresh, nutritious local food production for ACF farmers market, small local urban farmers and local food banks. Do you know any company interested in supporting sustainable local food production, community gardens, food security and small agriculture resilience programs? Looking forward to your comments, suggestions and referrals! How to support #farmers 👩🌾👨🌾? Buy the "ugly" produce. Ugly produce is simply a term used to describe imperfect fruits and vegetables. Despite their cosmetic flaws, these fruits and vegetables provide as much nourishment as—and sometimes more than—supermarket-stocked blemish-free produce (Source: University of California, Berkeley). It has negative impacts on the livelihood of our farmers and contributes to food waste. Let's support our farmers by simply building awareness for everyone! When Iran attacks, we keep on growing. 💪🇮🇱 I wanted to give you all an update from the Y'shuot Chultza farm in Otef Azza. The weather's all over the place, and our delicate veggies are feeling it! ️ We're carefully watering and fertilizing to keep them thriving through these unpredictable times. Here's a glimpse into the fields: 🫑Peppers: Our older plants are winding down, but new ones will be ready in 2 months! 🍒Cherry Tomatoes: Deliciousness is just around the corner - a month until harvest! 🥒Cucumbers: Fresh cucumbers are back on the menu! We planted new ones after our old crop finished its wartime duty. 🍅Tomatoes: We planted these to fill a market gap caused by fewer growers and workers. BUT... they still have 3 empty plots due to a lack of helping hands! Here's where YOU come in! Donate: Every bit helps us keep our farm running strong. 💪https://lnkd.in/dUGPupf3 🇮🇱Share: Spread the word about our fresh, local produce! ביחד ננצח! #localfarm #freshproduce #communitysupportedagriculture #helpfarmers #growyourown

Supporting our local farmers is vital to maintaining a valuable connection to our land and food supply. The Food Dignity® Movement, a nonprofit organization, recognizes this and purchases Pennsylvania produce and agriculture products from our local and regional smaller farmers. Food equity in our community is created through the planting, raising, growing, and harvesting of this food with the recipient in mind. The food we use to create food equity isn't an afterthought. Efficiency and effectiveness are at the core of our mission. Our lean approach to food sustainability outcomes includes: 🚚 We do not require warehousing or trucking logistics. 🥕 We reduce farm food loss, while increasing the farm's profit margins. 🌍 We reduce food miles and carbon footprint. 👩🌾 We create jobs and a new market for our local farmers. Join us in supporting our local farmers and ensuring a sustainable food supply for years to come. 🌟 Big News for UK Farmers! 🌟 Smaller Abattoir Fund, a new effort to help small meat and poultry processing places in England was launched. 🚀 The Sustainable Food Trust (SFT) thinks this is a "good sign" from the Government, recognizing how important these small processing places are. This £4 million fund is a big step to help these places stay open and deal with the problems that caused many of them to close. 🔍 Key Points: 👉 Money is available for approved meat and poultry processing places, even those on wheels. 👉 Aim to make these places better at their job, keep animals healthy and happy, make products more valuable, and use new ideas and technologies. 🗣️ John Mettrick, who leads the Abattoir Sector Group, is happy: "This shows the Government knows small processing places matter to farmers, butchers, and the whole countryside." 🌱 Megan Perry, who works on policy at SFT, says the fund is important for making a strong and lasting food system: "Small processing places are really important for local meat supply." 💡 Making Small Processing Places Better: 🔧 Money for things that make these places better. 🔧 Focus on doing the job better, keeping animals healthy, making things more valuable, and trying new ideas. Dear Readers, Just need your 2 Minutes. One of the few and most benevolent matters is SOIL, which is LIVING and the source of all the food satisfying our square meal a day. But at the same time, we are killing this living matter each passing day brutally, without giving much thought to the repercussions our coming generations would face. We humans have been #exploiting this benevolence heartlessly over the years and #degrading the only source of life and growth. #Conservation_of_soil has become the excruciating need of the hour as indiscriminate use of pesticides has ruined the soil fabric and lowered its nutrients to a level where deep repairs have become massively pressing and essential. #One_small_step towards undertaking such repairs is through soil testing, enabling farmers to know and become aware about the soil elements and the required nutrients to make it healthy. The indiscriminate use of chemicals is attributed to the lack of knowledge and awareness about what is required for the soil and in what proportions. Such intensive work towards conservation of soil and its testing is what #KrushiSarathi is committed to since the last 3 years. This involves mass communication events at the village level, awareness drives and discussions with the farmers on their soil testing reports in order to supplement the soil with the right nutrients. Having said and done this, the efforts need more hands to contribute to this #campaign and make it reach out to maximum potential #farmers who could benefit from this. Remember, the efforts are also towards making less poisonous food available for safe consumption for us all. Here we would like to appeal to our fellows from all walks of life who consume food grown by our farmer friends everyday to come forward for a noble cause and #contribute their share through #Rs_300 for one #soil_testing process or #donate for one or many farmers or #adopt a village or #join hands for this campaign. Contributions don’t get measured, they get counted. So, make yourself count into this campaign and mission. Don’t let the growers go away, we need them, they need us! Save the growers and the growing medium-SOIL. For more details and curiosity, do touch base with us. Policy-makers hold a pivotal role in steering the ship towards a zero-waste future. In addition to promoting food education in schools and hastening research efforts, implementing and enforcing regulations that mandate more explicit expiration labels and incentivising businesses to donate surplus food can create a conducive environment for change. #Foodloss #Agriculture #Foodsecurity #Innovation #Foodwaste 👉https://ow.ly/FjWQ50Qm3Cs
