Recently, I overheard a well-known creative director in our industry say, of a very talented editor, "If he's so good, then why is he available?" This attitude is trash. Never before have we had such an incredible pool of top talent, available and looking for work. If you're in the trailer industry, chances are you can name three PHENOMENAL editors who aren't staffed anywhere and are looking for their next gig. (If you know me, you can at least name one 😉 ) Many shops have let go of half of their editors. This doesn't make us the bottom half of talent. Some of us are senior-level and cost more to keep around. It's a budget issue, not a talent issue. If your shop has a hiring need, I URGE you to take a look at available talent before you go scouring the rosters of other shops. I'm seeing way too many "lateral moves" and not enough unattached editors getting picked up. Not naming names, but We Can do better.

This week has been dubbed the "Red Wedding" of television, with massive layoffs sweeping through A E and Paramount, and the closure of Paramount Television Studios. The studios' mantra "survive until ’25" has quickly turned into "no more in ’24." Many of us in the entertainment industry are now facing a crossroads. Colleagues who were once always booked have no prospects. After nearly 20 years of thriving as a freelancer, this is the first time I’ve been out of work for more than a few weeks. It’s disheartening, but it’s also pushed me to reflect on the next chapter. I’ve been contemplating a shift away from television for some time now. While I wouldn’t trade my experience as an unscripted TV producer for anything—the adrenaline of sitting in an FBI surveillance truck, standing in the same room as a President, collaborating with chefs, wedding dress designers, architects, musicians, and activists, or soaring in a door-less helicopter over the Las Vegas strip (yes, I was terrified)—this wild ride seems to be reaching its final loop. Pivoting is challenging. But if there’s one thing entertainment workers excel at, it’s adaptability. In TV, you don’t get weeks to solve problems—you get minutes. I might not have all the answers for a new role right away, but I guarantee I’ll learn them quickly. My resume might say producer, but I’m ready to prove I’m capable of so much more and can check so many more boxes. The next chapter starts now, and I’m excited to embrace it. I'm looking for a new role in Corporate Communications, within a creative services team or an agency. If you’re looking for someone who thrives under pressure and brings a wealth of experience, I’d love to connect. Reach out if you think I could be the right fit for your team! #CareerPivot #JobSearch #OpenToWork #Communications #Networking #DigitalStorytelling #ReadyToWork
I'll show you mine if...Kidding! Or am I? If you're looking for someone to craft compelling stories for your brand or clients, it's only fair I start by sharing mine. Please feel free to share this with your networks as I am actively #opentowork and looking for a full-time role in #corporatecommunications as a #creativeproducer or #communications director or #projectmanager. Let’s work together! P.S.: If you need an editor, hire Brandon Sanzari, who put this little ditty together for me.

Brand-Driven Videos for Cool* B2B Brands | Just film, and sit back | Your favorite chick for video editing 🐥
If you’re hiring solely based on skill, you’re blindly killing your business! Humans are a lot more than what they do. Someone who is a brilliant video editor, might have very different values than your business. So even if they can make the most amazing edits… They are not able to showcase your vision. Instead hire someone who: - Loves what you do - Loves how you do it When I started working with Sellfy I was a total beginner. But because I loved their content and mission so much… It made me work hard towards being a better editor. A good video editor doesn’t necessarily mean the most skilled one. It means the most passionate one.

Professional Video editor | Handled 300 projects | 5 Star seller on Fiverr | Worked with 150 unique clients
Here's a reminder to never ever use this tone while speaking to someone who's paying you for a job! If you do, please don't expect the client to get back to you for more work This recent experience was utterly baffling and exhausting! I recently had a bad luck of hiring an editor under me via LinkedIn for a job and despite his account assuring him being an established video editor, turns out he wasn't only terrible at his job, lacked basic knowledge on sequence settings and editing timeline but also was an absolute headache to work with! The whole drama this guy put for simple changes not only proved to be a waste of my time, efforts and money but also my peace of mind while I desperately looked for a solution for the trouble caused by the editor himself!! Its such a pity to see such people with zero professionalism, accountability and respect towards clients/other editors advertise themselves as "professional video editors with *x* years of experience" Cheap workforce like this is what's putting a lot of credible editors at a bad spotlight and making clients take a back step when looking for a smoother experience while hiring editors for their jobs Finally I leant a lesson to never trust what you see on someone's LinkedIn profile! #videoeditor #hiring #professional #dobetter

I Turn YouTube Channels into Passive Income Streams | YouTube Growth Strategist | B2B Video Marketing | Grew Niche Channel from 0 to 626k Views in 11 Months
If I had to take a new YouTube channel to $5k/mo, this is what I'd do... In fact, I started a new channel last month, and this is what I’ve been doing: 1) Conducting extensive topic research strategy for this channel 2) Getting my branding done: Colors, banners, design, logo, name 3) Hiring a new production team: Research assistant, video editors, scriptwriters 4) Setting up systems to automate 90% of the processes 5) Having a consultation call with a competitor in this niche with a 1-year-old channel (Got some brilliant insights) 46 days later, we are here: 1) Just touched 120k impressions 2) Crossed 12.4k views 3) Crossed 200 watch hours 4) Crossed 175 subscribers 5) Got a sponsorship (Turned down) 6) Made our first sale! Let's be honest: building anything great takes time, and if you want solid results by next year, you've to start today. P.S. As usual, my content strategy focuses on search-based topics that will garner more views over time with better conversions The goal is to take this channel to atleast $2-3k/mo revenue in a year and then 5-6k/mo after that; until then, we'll put our heads down and produce the highest quality content possible.
