These small yet powerful tools remind us of the importance of creating an inclusive workspace for neurodiverse individuals. As a parent of neurodiverse children, this topic is deeply personal to me. Neurodiverse people bring unique talents that deserve to be both accommodated and celebrated. Simple actions like providing fidget toys, creating quiet spaces, or being mindful of communication styles can transform the work environment for them. Exciting day at the HR Summit hosted by GamesIndustry.Biz at The Royal Institution London yesterday, catching up with RKD colleagues and connecting with HR and other Motionspot industry experts. Rare Ltd showcased their impressive Barn X project, unpacking the topic of Designing Creative Spaces for a Neurodiverse Workforce, highlighting the following key insights: 💡 The importance of creating neurological safety in working environments. 💡 The importance of Neuro-inclusion through design adaptable to individual needs. 💡 The importance of creating Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) supporting Neurodiverse employee engagement, skills development and flexible working policies. 💡 The importance of considering universal access in design catering for employee wellbeing including biophilic design elements, circadian lighting controls, lighting sensitivity, acoustic and olfactory measures. 💡 Utilizing Neuro-inclusive Tools such as the BIODEX to measure employee comfort levels navigating the working environment. We need to fix the working environment, not the people. We should all feel comfortable enough to show up fully as we are in an equitable, diverse and inclusive working environments to foster innovation and collaboration, recognizing growth and development through all generations.
