It is with a heavy heart that The Mill shares the very sad news of the passing of Amanda Libotte on 27th June 2024. Amanda worked with MPC and most recently The Mill for just under 30 years. A truly distinguished career, including starting MPC in NY, producing many award-winning projects, and setting the gold standard for how studios should operate most effectively, and within a culture of true collaboration, respect, and fun. As a dedicated member of the MPC/The Mill family, she was a caring, loving soul who spent each day helping those around her reach their highest potential; Amanda’s impact on the London and NY creative communities touched thousands of lives. Passionate about VFX, and an avid educator for both the School of Visual Arts and the Ghetto Film School in NY, Amanda left a long-lasting impression on countless students. For those fortunate enough to have known Amanda well, her impact on our lives is something that will last forever. A remarkable person in so many ways; fearless in standing up for what is right and fair, a true champion of diversity, always considerate of others and a pillar of strength to those around her who were looking for support or guidance through a difficult situation. Amanda’s priorities always laid with those around her, and for those fortunate enough to know Amanda, we were all so much the better for her wonderful and entertaining company, her great sense of humor, and her wisdom and knowledge of broader cultures and arts. A truly inspirational figure, a true legend of our industry, respected and admired by us all. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eQQKzFim
Gone far too soon. Rest in peace my friend. ❤️
Deeply saddened to hear this news... Amanda was truly a special light on this earth and a very special person to me. She played a pivotal role in the start of my and many other young careers that laid the groundwork for our success in this industry. She truly cared about our growth and success and helped keep us going through the hard moments. She brought a special kindness and empathy to the office that kept us all in touch with our shared humanity. I feel so lucky to have had her influence in my life, and I hope we can all remember to carry a piece of that with us in our workspaces and lives. My deepest condolences to her friends and family in this difficult time. ❤️
You were one of the greats Amanda Libotte. You always knew how to make someone feel seen, feel noticed and not alone. I can only imagine the thousands of lives you touched with a word of encouragement, whip-smart reply or by simply just being there. Thankful to be witness to such grace, class and compassion. See you in the stars. ✨
Such sad news. I will always remember Amanda from our enjoyable years at MPCLondon and the kind way she managed our little troupe.
This is so heartbreaking, Amanda was such an amazing person - she was instrumental in getting me a fair maternity leave deal in the early MPC NY days. Condolences to her family.
Amanda played a significant part in the early days of my career at MPC, she was always so supportive and always, always calm! I will miss you dearly Amanda xxx
Amanda was truly amazing. The messages here are a testament to her talent, reach and impact. It was an honor and pleasure to have worked with Amanda and learn from her. During Amanda's life I was inspired by her thoughtful approach to work and life, her ability to remain calm during chaos, the endless encouragement and support to all those around her. And remembering to have fun too. Thank you for everything Amanda! I aspire to be more like you everyday.
Amanda was one of the most delightful people I ever had the privilege of working with at MPC. It was always a pleasure to be welcomed by her when I came to NY. She never hesitated to let me know what I should do (but always in a charming way). She truly was one of the reasons MPC was such a great place to be. It was a real privilege to have known her.
I remember when Amanda and her son moved to NY to set up MPC. She worked out of Technicolor NY and I got to see what an amazing, smart and wonderful person she was. I would see her over the years and she always had a hug and a smile. My sympathies to he son who was the light of life and her family and colleagues. Sad news indeed.
