In honor of International Transgender Day of Visibility, we're highlighting the work we do to destigmatize LGBTQIA relationships and put an end to the violence and prejudice still prevalent in the Caribbean. By using audience-driven storytelling and community engagement, we create lasting social and behavioral changes around how LGBTQIA individuals are treated. Around the world, the discussion of discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex individuals is complicated by deeply held beliefs, religious or moral ideals, and overarching generalizations or other misconceptions. With a popular 21-episode radio drama, social media, and street theater performances, we have been able to reach more than 23,000 people with Once Community, Many Voices. Through this program, we work to change negative behaviors toward LGBTQIA individuals by: - Improving legal protections - Advancing equal rights - Shifting social norms - Reducing stigma, discrimination, and violence Learn more about this life-changing program funded by the European Union at: https://bit.ly/3M3TkQd. #TransgenderDayOfVisibility #LGBTIQ #TransLivesMatter #TransRights #EqualRights #Pride

On International Transgender Day of Visibility, we stand united in acknowledgment of the discrimination and challenges that persist. 🏳️⚧️ This day is a call to action. As we honour the resilience of the transgender community, we also recognize our collective responsibility to stand up against discrimination, be vocal advocates and allies, and actively champion equality. Being an ally involves understanding, empathy, and support. We must continue to educate ourselves on the issues that transgender people face, challenge stereotypes, and actively listen to and learn from the experiences of transgender individuals. We’ll continue to create inclusive spaces that uplift and empower, ensuring that transgender voices are heard and valued on the waterfront and beyond. #TransgenderDayOfVisibility #LGBTQIA2S #TransDayOfVisibility #Allyship #Allies #StandUpForEquality #AllyshipMatters

Happy International Transgender Day of Visibility or TDOV! Evident in 2024 is intensifying backlash toward trans people, be it through legislative measures which, according to the American Civil Liberties Union, includes 479 anti-LGBTQ bills introduced across state legislatures this year alone, to direct physical violence, declared an epidemic by the American Medical Association since 2019, which disproportionately affects Black trans women with a majority being young people of color. That’s why it’s necessary for trans people to be seen through authentic, diverse, and accurate stories which reflect the actual lived experiences of trans people; both for themselves and for the people who believe they’ve never met a trans person.(Source: glaad). GA-SWOG stands in allyship with our trans community members and supports the continued work of inclusion and equality. #transvisibility #inclusionmatters #transgenderdayofvisibility #transrightsarehumanrights #equality
The International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is an annual observance on March 31st dedicated to celebrating transgender and gender-diverse individuals. Its purpose is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the transgender community and advocate for their rights. The day aims to acknowledge the accomplishments and contributions of transgender individuals while emphasizing visibility to counteract the discrimination and prejudice often encountered by them. Transgender people need more rights. This article doesnt advocate rights for transgender people but it starts the conversation. It might be sick to one person, but transgender people have human rights no matter what people want to think. We as a society shouldn’t have the power to take human rights from other people because of the way they identify. Thanks for bringing this subject to the forefront Rita. No matter what people think it’s so important to be discussing this issue as people are having their human rights violated and this is going on right now. Trans rights are human rights. Transgender people are ok by me. See more on the topic from Sky News:

The Utah LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce strongly supports President Biden's Title IX protections for transgender youth. We denounce the Utah Legislature's decision to ignore these vital protections, which jeopardize the well-being of our transgender students. Transgender youth deserve to feel safe and supported in their educational environments. By refusing to implement these protections, the Legislature is choosing discrimination over inclusion and placing federal funding for our schools at risk. We urge state leaders to prioritize the rights and dignity of all students and to cease using transgender children as political pawns. We call on our community to elevate their voices in dissent of this decision. For small business owners, consider becoming a member of the LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce to stay informed on these issues as well as others affecting our community. Or you can become an Ambassador in our Ambassadorship program.
