IOP groups are growing scarce, but we are expanding access in this area to fill the gap. And not on some inaccessible medical campus either-- we're embedded in the community because that's where outcomes happen. Pictured: Model

Livingstone update - an endorsement by colleagues at AstraZeneca and why automated RWD-analysis illustrates why we need to have a rethink about conventional #RWD/#RWE methods Working within the terms of our data licenses with CPRD, we have been supporting colleagues at AstraZeneca with the rapid analysis of healthcare data using the Livingstone platform. Some of the analysis that we provided to AstraZeneca the very same day, had been scheduled for delivery in 2025 - simply because it typically has taken that long to carryout studies of these designs. Amongst other things, a recent testimonial provided by AstraZeneca says, “The ability of the Livingstone platform to rapidly create and analyse disease cohorts based on our study definitions and objectives is impressive, and our business stakeholders are already recognising the value”. The purpose of innovations, like Livingstone, is to make British life science the most competitive in the world, and British academic healthcare sciences the most advanced in the world. In turn, this generates the wealth we need to fund our NHS and to support academics, and ultimately to improve population health. The fuel for engines like Livingstone is the linked, anonymous data generated by the NHS, amongst other sources. The recent statement in The Times by Sir Tony Blair and Lord Hague of Richmond should be heeded. NHS data should be used to support our life science and health innovation industries to create wealth. Many of the proposed changes to data access, will only serve to put the kibosh on health innovation in our field of interest. Let’s hope not! Tony Blair and William Hague: Sell NHS data to fund medical advances.
