Do you find yourself trying to explain to the people around you how stigma and bias impact health outcomes? Maybe we can help. PHIMC’s Protecting our Patients (POP) initiatives mobilize care teams to address biases and stigmas that harm the health experiences and outcomes of people in our care, including ourselves. POP initiatives promote practices that improve patient experiences and support comprehensive care. We use an innovative model that combines storytelling, training, peer support, specially curated visual art, and communications strategies to help care teams: 1) integrate routine HIV screening into general healthcare and 2) provide affirming care for all, especially those who have been systematically marginalized.
