Check out this wonderful video about LAMI that was created as part of Lee Williams’ Faces & Places series, in collaboration with Jeffrey Koven, Koven Video Productions. On top of his role at LAMove Real Estate, Lee is also Commissioner Williams on the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners, the governing board for the Port of Los Angeles. Commissioner Williams shared some poignant remarks at a recent Harbor Commission Meeting when discussing the Port's Community Investment Grants for LAMI and EXP: "My first opportunity on a boat was with an organization very similar to LAMI. That day changed my life... it absolutely did. I was an inner-city kid who had never been on a boat. We caught a barracuda, we caught a dog shark, we took them back, and we dissected them. I became instantly interested in school and a straight A student after that, because of that one-day exposure." You can give that same gift of opportunity to a young person in our community when you make a donation at lamitopsail.org/donate. By doing so, you're giving them an opportunity to try something new... to face their fears... to develop valuable skills... and to reach for the future - as a scientist, a leader, and maybe even a future Harbor Commissioner! #LosAngelesMaritimeInstitute #SailWithPurpose #HandsOnLearning #SkillBuilding #CharacterBuilding #CriticalThinkingSkills #LeadershipDevelopment #FutureLeaders #HelpingKidsSucceed #YouthEmpowerment #LearningAtSea #STEMEducation #OutdoorEducation #ExperientialEducation #SetSail #SailingExperiences #TallShipSailing #SanPedroCA #PortOfLA #LAWaterfront #CommunityPartners #CommunityLeaders #CommunitySupport #CommunityImpact #CommunityInvolvement #ThePowerOfCommunity #MakingADifferenceTogether #SeasonOfGiving

Do you know of any nonprofits that might be appropriate for this opportunity? Please kindly share with them. I have the privilege to help in administering a grant opportunity to organizations for whom a grant of $5,000 - $10,000 would have a significant impact on their operations and, thereby, on their intended populations. Though the grants are limited to US nonprofits (501c3’s), they are primarily seeking to affect communities outside of the US that align with their mission. More information about their Mission, Vision and process can be found at the following link (along with the grant application): DignityandDevelopment.org. #nonprofit #grants #foundation #fundraising #philanthropy #nonprofitleaders #socialimpact #globalimpact #socialchange #economicdevelopment #povertyalleviation

Founder, President & CEO, Spring Rain Global , AVPN Director for Philippines Ecosystem Builder , Sustainability Coach Philanthropy and Financial Planning, Systems Thinker ,Chief Consultant of Spring Rain Global
At Spring Rain Global, we are devoted to one call to break cycles of poverty in all its forms. We believe that systemic change can only occur if the smallest development player that works at the very grassroots of society is empowered. In today’s philanthropic landscape, these organizations are typically ignored and their potential to contribute to human development is overlooked and underutilized. As a social enterprise, we aim to empower and professionalize these organizations, germinating them towards sustainability. We aim to create an ecosystem of good in which PDOs, philanthropists, and others may work together to create sustainable positive impacts in communities. Patented Framework for Growing Missions Spring Rain Global’s 6-Pillar Capacitation Model© is a proprietary systematic framework that the organization uses to train and empower philanthropic development organizations towards sustainability. Through this model, we address the urgent social need of the most vulnerable communities by co-creating innovations and life-saving responses with grassroots organizations. Through training, workshops, conferences, mentoring, linkages, and networking opportunities, we help PDOs set up their systems in Leadership and Governance, Program Development and Management, Philanthropy, Financial Planning, Database Management, and Ecosystem Building. Today we kicked off the 7th Pillar and that is the Spirituality which highlight’s the importance of nurturing and deepening one's spiritual connection as part of the organization's overall mission and approach. Spirituality can provide individuals and organizations with a sense of purpose, guidance, and inner strength. If you have any specific questions or topics related to spirituality, I would be happy to assist you further. #srg7thpillarspirituality #ecosystemofgood #philanthropy# #srg6pillarcapacitationmodel #springrainglobal https://lnkd.in/gaKjah4J

Our Director Andre Wilkens writes about Share Europe, a new, bold response to Europe’s pressing challenges! Born from the spirit of the 1950 Schuman Declaration, this initiative reinvigorates the European philanthropic landscape by pooling resources, empowering civil society, and fostering solidarity among Europeans. As we face wars, climate threats, and digital upheavals, Share Europe embodies a proactive philanthropy committed to shaping a hopeful, united, and resilient continent. Share Europe is not just a fund; it's a movement toward impactful, cooperative philanthropy that addresses fundamental European challenges head-on. Click the link for more: https://lnkd.in/eJUxNVyd The Share Europe initiative is the result of The New Schuman Plan which was initiated in 2023 by our Foundation in collaboration with Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Philea - Philanthropy Europe Association and Friends of Europe.

Extraordinary inspirational yesterday's session with Right Relations Collaborative with Jess Housty and Kim Hardy. They have demonstrated that it's possible to be supported by fundraisers who share the indigenous community's core values. Not only that, but they are also willing to change their power structure based on extraction and exploitation by initiating a new way of understanding their support for the indigenous community. RRC invites them to embark on a tough journey in which they ask themselves questions such as where their money comes from. It is fascinating to see how they even managed to change the usual one-year timeframe of funding by extending it to five or even ten years to give the community security in their jobs. That is working from and for the community! I am delighted to cooperate with RRC trying to transfer their model to Europe and the broad cultural sector. I am convinced that this is the only way to overcome the scarcity-based funding model that underpins the vast majority of cultural organizations that are now stifled by a lack of financial resources and are just trying to survive for another year. Do we realize the difference? Not having the guarantee of surviving one more year (when there is only one source of funding, usually from the administration), versus being able to live in the long term (when there is the support of the community, which is the key to everything). And the most incredible thing of all, as Kim said yesterday, is that it is much simpler than we think. It's there and you don't have to invent anything. Just listen to the community and apply some tools like. What if we start to merge Museums and local communities into one single Mycellium? Do we dare to reshape our pyramidal power structures to other distributed ones? In the end, we are talking about letting go of acquired privilege and substituting for well-rooted and authentic identities and a sense of purpose. In our new Exeter History Minute, we explore an aspect of Exeter, NH's early economic history.
We hear more and more often that the United States is becoming a cash-less society—many of us rarely use cash and instead rely on credit cards and digital wallets. In this episode, Barbara explores how Exeter was largely a cash-less society in the 17th and 18th centuries, but in a very different way. This Exeter History Minute is made possible by a grant from the Dan Brown Charitable Fund. We would like to credit Andreas Steidlinger for the lumber photo and Shawaz Malik for the photo of fish in a bowl.
