One of the big topics at the UNFCCC UN conference happening now in Bonn is climate finance, an issue we believe philanthropy can and should put at the top of its agenda if we have any hope of making real progress in our #climate journey. That's why we have all of our #climatechange webinars and workshops available to rewatch on our YouTube channel, including one led by Greenpeace غرينبيس on how Islamic finance could catalyze ethical and sustainable #climateaction: https://bit.ly/3IjfVVK

How her children and the fires in Australia inspired Elise Buckle to start SHE Builds Bridges for Climate Action. We have to move beyond our egos and logos. We have to act for future generations. There is no business and there are no jobs on a dead planet. In this conversation with Elise Buckle, I learned: - The DNA of Climate Bridges is radical collaboration. - A good work/life balance with running and staying connected with nature. - During a mid-life crisis re-connected with your source of energy. - The Climate crisis is also a civilization crisis. We need to reconnect to our deep values and put nature and people back at the heart of society and the heart of the economy. - Value what counts, for example, the care economy which is undervalued at the moment. - We build bridges, to make it more inclusive. - Go beyond the stories of us against them, or them against us. - Together working as one team, for one planet. - Rebuild the bridges of compassion. - A peace agreement has 63% more chance of lasting when you have women at the table. - It’s not just individual actions, it’s also about strong public policies and strong climate leaders as heads of state. - The young generation has the right to know we are facing a climate change emergency. - It’s easy to give up and deny climate science. - Turn the climate grief into optimism. - Change is happening fast, but is it fast enough? - We will need to accept that we can live with less, to be resilient and show solidarity with all people on the planet. - Connecting the dots of her work with decision-makers and public mobilisation. The top-down climate policy and advocacy work, and the bottom-up support, create a double squeeze. - At COP29 climate finance will be at the heart of the negotiations. Push hard for gender-responsive climate finance. - Elise shares a message of hope to all of us. Everyone can be a climate leader. We all talk about it and act on it. She shares some practical tips. - We are all part of the problem, but we are also part of the solution. Elise is a globally recognized climate leader and expert who has been working in the field of climate and sustainability for 24 years. She is President and CEO of Climate Bridges - WE Build Bridges for Climate & Sustainability, and Founder of the SHE Builds Bridges for Climate Action network. She has been nominated as International Gender Champion (IGC) and is now the Co-Chair of the IGC Climate and Gender Impact Group. Elise has a strong track record of working as a partnership facilitator and catalyst for change, building bridges and successful global alliances to unlock the power of collective action and deliver positive impacts for climate, people and nature. She is also a leadership mentor and teaches sustainability and entrepreneurship at the Glion Institute of Higher Education. For #ClimateWeekNYC 2024, we're proud to join global leaders advancing climate solutions, represented by several of our dedicated team members, including our CEO and CIO Margret Trilli and ImpactAssets Capital Partners Managing Director of Investments Nick Peters. We know that the urgency of this crisis means that climate action cannot wait. Our work targets four essential climate investment themes – areas where impact investors are best suited to generate the biggest impact per dollar: #climatejustice, the #energytransition, deep #decarbonization and #naturebasedsolutions. We are always excited to hear how our work may intersect and mutually strengthen that of others in the climate finance community. If you’re attending Climate Week NYC and are passionate about impactful climate action, keep an eye out for us! Our team is looking forward to engaging with fellow leaders on how we can collectively move the needle for people and planet. #climatechange #climatecrisis #climatefinance #impactinvesting #philanthropy

Good morning #foodforthought 🤔 Reflecting on the weight of the term "unprecedented" and its connotations in the context of climate change challenges and climate disasters... While the word acknowledges the unknowns, I agree that it's crucial to recognize (just as Brittany Moffat is quoted) that we do know what needs to be done. Looks like an insightful panel discussion. Dave White's quote on the next 18 months being pivotal for climate action adds urgency too! #climatechange #unprecedented #climateaction #climateadaptation #climatemitigation #equity #next18months #arup
“The UN has called this the decade of action. The next 18 months are probably going to be the most influential 18 months of climate action for the nation.” —Dave White With Southwest Chapter lead author Dave White moderating, Samuel Assefa, Leah Fisher, and Brittany Moffett just provided the #10Across LA Summit audience with a rousing snapshot of how public, private, and philanthropic entities are mobilizing around the climate science within the fifth U.S. National Climate Assessment and historic federal investments to create a more equitable future. Today, if you're not approaching climate adaptation, mitigation, and equity strategies holistically, "you're going to cause harm." —Moffett. #climateaction #mitigationstrategies #equity #nca5

A Fair Share for a Sustainable Future Developed nations, with their historical emissions, must now step up to bear a more significant portion of the climate finance burden. This is not charity but a recognition of past actions and present capabilities. The call for a just and sustainable world demands concrete financial commitments that acknowledge historical responsibility and support those most affected by climate change. The time for action is now, as the consequences of inaction are too grave to ignore. #ClimateFinance #ClimateJustice #GlobalResponsibility Read more: https://lnkd.in/dKCzq_ui.

Insightful discussion with climate finance leaders and our investment partner, IFC - International Finance Corporation, at the sidelines of the Climate Business Forum: Asia Pacific. Energy transition needs to happen with a greater sense of urgency, scale and unprecedented global collaboration. Blended finance is a key in unlocking private investment in energy transition and energy transition projects that otherwise would not happen or take much longer to develop. The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) #blendedfinance #energytransition #energyaccess
