Can we talk about this? Mentorship AND Sponsorship. Mentorship gets talked about A LOT. But I think we don't talk about the kind of mentorship. It doesn't have to be same-sex or even in the same company or same industry. The mentorship has to be meaningful. It doesn't have to be something formal. It just has to work for you and for the mentor and that is something that you and that mentor work on TOGETHER. It is a relationship. The other thing that doesn't get talked about is sponsorship. This is a big one. Sponsorship is HUGE for Black women in STEM. This is where someone speaks for you in rooms that you are NOT in. They vouch for you. I talk about this in the article. I hope that you all will take 5 minutes to read through. Give me an honest comment. Share with a friend. #NerdySTEMQueen #wocinstem #mentorship #sponsorship #blackwomen #blackinstem #womeninstem #yesweneedboth #stemliteracy #womeninstem #stem #womenintech #womenmentorship #allies #wocintech #womenmentors #blackwomenmentors #blackwomensponsors

Empowering Communities through Dynamic Communication Strategies | Crafting Impactful Messages for Lasting Engagement
Embarking on a journey with the Youth Advisory Council during the 2022-2023 academic year was a privilege beyond words. These remarkable young leaders, aged 13-18 and hailing from all corners of the country, met on Zoom every month to discuss community service they were participating in, plan joint initiatives, and amplify the mission of Create the Change (formerly known as Project Giving Kids). After the pandemic and the events during and post-2020, young people were more willing than ever to connect with one another, foster authentic community spaces, and drive collective action for enduring social change. Motivated by this, I chose to shift the program and encouraged the YAC members to delve into social issues close to their hearts, empowering them to research the root causes of these issues and explore avenues for impactful engagement. Dividing into three passionate groups, they delved into Global Women's Education, Immigration Reform and the Refugee Crisis, and Body Positivity/Mental Health. As the program concluded in June 2023, organizational shifts led to the sunset of the Youth Advisory Council. Yet, this wasn't the end. A recent email from a former YAC member unveiled the founding of "Bridge Her Knowledge," an organization born from the inspiration gained during their time in the Youth Advisory Council. Their mission? Addressing the vital importance of access to global women and girls' education. "Bridge Her Knowledge" stands as a testament to the YAC's lasting impact. Starting this year with the #Ripple of "Bridge Her Knowledge" is more than a boost; it's a testament to the limitless potential within young change-makers. I'm fueled by the passion of these emerging leaders, and I'm more committed than ever to empowering youth voices in the pursuit of positive change. Let's keep creating ripples together! 💫 #YouthLeadership #ChangeMakers #BridgeHerKnowledge #ImpactfulYouth #CreatetheChange

Women athletes have the power to inspire positive change in the world. Specifically, in the soccer World Cup, they have the potential to make a BIG impact in the fight against violence against women. This noble cause can guide society towards genuine freedom. By playing side by side with their male counterparts in representing their country in the Global Vision 2030 B2S Unity World Cup, women can discover their hidden powers. Participating in this severe representation of all genders can lead to new opportunities and rebirths for every young girl and boy in the USA and around the globe. Women's active participation in leadership and the solutions they offer can also turn men into a force for change. This notion presents a disconnect from the mindset arising from the exploitation world. Men are alienated from their true human essence due to the male-dominated culture rediscovering their human potential. This transformation triggers the eruption of hidden energies and should be regarded as a true awakening and fundamental cultural transformation. Join us in supporting women's participation and hegemony in the GV2030 Unity World Cup, and let's work together under the leadership of women to create a better world for all. www.globalvision2030.com

First of all, happy International Women's Day to all the inspiring women in our lives and in our professional networks! 🌹 Let's talk about a game-changer in sports – the formation of a women's football team within (also a lower tier) a club. This isn't just an investment in the sport; it's a commitment to equality and untapped potential. 🌟 Rising from the Grassroots: The Power Play of Investing in Women's Football ⚽ In the world of football, where the glitz and glamour of top-tier clubs often dominate headlines, a silent revolution brews in the grassroots. The formation of a women's team within a lower league club isn't just a nod to equality; it's a strategic move teeming with untapped potential. 🌱 Community Engagement: Women's teams at clubs like AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic anchor themselves deeply within their localities, becoming hubs for community engagement and activity. Their presence goes beyond match days, fostering inclusive environments where football becomes everyone's game. 🤝 Financial Acumen: It's not all just about feel-good stories; there's solid financial sense here too. Investing in women's teams offers a high return potential on a modest input. The inspiring rise of AFC Wimbledon's women's side showcases how strategic investments paired with community support can lead to sustainable growth. 📈 Sponsorship and Partnerships: Brands are waking up to the value of associating with women's football. There's a fresh narrative here, one of growth, inclusivity, and social responsibility. Clubs in lower leagues have a unique opportunity to forge new partnerships with a vision for the future. 🤝 Youth Development: By investing in women's football, clubs create pathways for young talent. The impact here is two-fold: nurturing future stars and inspiring the next generation of fans and players. It's about building a legacy. ⭐ We're witnessing an awakening, where investments in women's football also at the grassroots level are proving to be game-changers for clubs looking beyond the conventional. The question is no longer "Why?" but "Why not?" #WomensFootball #FinancialGrowth #CommunityImpact #GrassrootsDevelopment #SportsMarketing

Day -7 Yesterday we sorted our values, today we set targets, or commitments, depending on the level of knowledge we have. We’ve got 7 days left to apply for an award at The Wisbys - an award for women and gender non-binary people in sustainable businesses. Start drafting Part 2: Set Clear Goals & Targets - of your all-in-one policy. Continue on with this work from the previous day. Goals and targets can be commitments at this stage, until you can determine how to measure those commitments. A mature process would have metrics, and a history of measuring results. It’s reasonable to wait until your first year of measurement to set more specific goals. Remember these elements: Carbon impact of your business (travel, energy use, materials used, food supplies) Supply chain/ sourcing and supplier agreements Human rights and diversity commitments Relevant SDGs Close Follow the hashtag #thewisbys2023, and turn on notifications for our post so you don't miss a beat as we count down to submission. Happy National Girls & Women in Sports Day! All girls should have the opportunity to participate in #sports. According to Women's Sports Foundation, which co-created this day of recognition, high school girls have 3 million more opportunities to participate in sports today than they had before Title IX. But disparities persist. White high school girls are missing out on 18% of the opportunities that boys have. Black and Latinx girls are missing out on 33%. Sports offer a wide range of health benefits. They also build confidence, strength, and character — empowering girls to become leaders. For this year’s International Women’s Day, #AWAD talks to Jasmine Ramsay Gray, General Manager of Convelio UK (the international art shipping company and AWAD partner). When it comes to creating more opportunities for women and under-represented groups in the art world, Jasmine says this requires a multifaceted approach: "Finding a supportive network is crucial—connecting with like-minded individuals who can offer guidance, share experiences, and provide a support system. Mentoring is equally vital – having someone who’s been there, done that, and can guide you through the ropes. If you’re a woman, having a female mentor can often make a difference as they will understand the exact insecurities that can hold young women back. Of course, there’s a lot that needs to happen on a more institutional level, from ensuring equal access to education alongside museums and galleries promoting diverse voices in their programming. As with all types of social change, we need to look for changes at every level to bring the next generation to their full potential."
