The most common use of housekeeping carts is done in hotels and motels. The trolley is used to carry the cleaning accessories such as sprays, cleaning scrub, water and bedsheets. It is largely used when the rooms are cleaned, and the bedsheets are changed. The entire room is cleaned and sanitized for which all the materials are kept on the trolley. # I paid for it, so I need it Inventory management is one of the critical aspects of housekeeping management. A housekeeping manager keeps records of all the housekeeping physical assets from A to Z within the premise and often within the whole facility. These may be consumables and non-consumables. The explanation of the difference is for another day. Talking of consumables, these are items availed in the guest room for the guests to use/consume. They may include but are not limited to; body lotion, shower gel, soap, tissue paper, vanity kit, shaving kit, sanitary kit, sewing kit, dental kit, sleepers, beverages just to mention a few. They belong to the guest and if a guest stays for a whole week, it means he/she is entitled for them for each day of stay. However, based on the policy of the hotel, it makes no sense for a GRA to keep providing a piece of soap for each day in a room where the guest doesn’t use that same soap unless he/she requests for it. Funny enough some guests do demand all the amenities for every single day of their stay. Have you ever demanded everything to be provided in your room even the ones you don’t need just because you have paid for them? Have you ever demanded something you don’t even know its use?
