ICYMI: Emily Klein, our Senior Policy Analyst, testified at the New York City Council’s Committee on Housing and Buildings oversight hearing on the J-51 Tax Abatement. The new J-51 Tax Abatement was authorized by Governor Hochul in 2023 under the Affordable Housing Rehabilitation Program. Emily spoke in support of the City’s legislation to implement the State’s proposed #taxbenefitprogram for the rehabilitation of qualifying #multifamily rental buildings. As Emily testified, CPC believes that Intro 654 meets the needs of our current market and moment and we urge the Council to pass this vital tool needed so that building owners can finance the necessary work to maintain quality and #affordablehomes for New Yorkers.
