Great to welcome visitors from Biogenie Remediation UK LTD to the Mining Heritage Centre at our Mansfield HQ.
It was a chance to give them a tour of our unique archive of maps and records, which still underpin much of our work to protect people and the environment in coalfield areas today.
There was also an opportunity to visit our nearby A-Winning mine water treatment scheme in Derbyshire.
This was built to prevent pollution of an important source of drinking water - you can read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gfq-hFzJ 👈
Great visit to your offices and also a site visit to one of your Water Treatment Schemes. Fantastic to see for ourselves all the good work that you are doing. Thank you.
It’s time for us all to show up for nature. #WorldHabitatDay
The mining and metals industry is dependent on healthy functioning ecosystems. We have a responsibility to understand our footprint, mitigate impact and maximise opportunities for the conservation and restoration of nature.

Greenland's Mineral Frontier Thomas Hale
Hosted by Mineralogical Society of the District of Columbia (MSDC)
Southern Greenland's Mineral Frontier
Melting ice in Greenland is exposing the country’s critical mineral resources, including #rareearths elements, #gold, #rubies, #graphite, fluorescent minerals and more. Extractive companies, governments, and billionaires are all eyeing this largely under-exploited resource potential. This presentation will cover three core sections.
First, the presentation provides a review of South Greenland's rich mineral resources and its most famous deposits, including the social, environmental, and political challenges around extraction. Greenland has gained a lot of attention from the international community for its mineral wealth, but there are many challenges facing the country when it comes to achieving a sustainable mining economy.
Second, the presentation will provide a historical overview of the Ivittuut Cryolite Mine (formerly Ivigtut), still considered to be the most famous and only successful long-term mining operation in the country’s history.
\Finally, there will be a short update on key policy developments, mining projects, and collecting literature for those interested in the development prospects of Greenland’s extractive sector.
Speaker Thomas Hale collected data and photographs during five weeks of field travel and relationships with indigenous communities, government agencies, and Arctic research collaborators as part of a Navigating the New Arctic (NNA) project through the University of Delaware, where he is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography and Spatial Sciences. Thomas is also an adjunct fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

Rather misses the point..
China also installs more renewables each year than the rest of the world out together.
The key point is to stop burning coal/oil/gas/peat etc.. (and wood, biomass, RDF to that matter) as we must not add to CO2e levels. This will stop global warming from accelerating.
We then have to remove a lot of the current CO2e to cool the ecosphere.
Breaking 🚨 Today it's been declared that there can be no further opencast coal mining at Glan Lash, the last opencast mine in Wales 🙌

#StockBox#COBR#RareEarthsStockBox spoke to CEO Rupert Verco Cobra Resources plc where he discusses the raise of £600,000 to Advance the Boland Rare Earth Discovery.
Watch below ⬇️

➡️The fundraising was well-received, with strong support from investors familiar with the project. The funds will primarily support drilling activities (5,000 to 7,000 meters of air core drilling) and optimization of the in-situ recovery (ISR) process for Rare Earth extraction.
➡️The company aims to demonstrate the cost competitiveness of ISR compared to conventional mining methods and targets the second half of 2025 to progress towards setting up a pilot plant for ISR mining.
➡️Ongoing bench-scale ISR tests and environmental studies are underway, with results expected in May/June.
➡️The company is also evaluating opportunities regarding its gold and uranium assets within the Wuddina project area.

⚠️ The current quest for minerals is not only threatening communities and biodiversity in Latin America, Asia or Africa, but also in Europe!
Local communities from Northern Portugal are fighting against exploitation of their lands by large corporations over prospective lithium mines in the region of Barroso Mountains 🏞️
💬 In this blog, we share the "New tales from the Barroso Mountains", written by Mariana Riquito and João da Montanha, highlighting the struggle of these communities and how they are taking action against the violation of their democratic rights to decide on the future of their lives and land as they are confronted with destruction and threats of mining companies.

Brian’s article highlights an important aspect of economic reconciliation: the transfer of mineral rights from the Crown to First Nations.
This is especially important to those Nations within Saskatchewan’s potash belt, as royalties from potash production have the potential to be significant and long-standing sources of revenue.
What is needed is an Indigenous Potash Strategy.
