Delray Medical Center has been named a DNV Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, reflecting the highest level of competence for treatment of serious stroke events. The DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, and affirms that the medical center addresses the full spectrum of stroke care – diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education – and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes. “Achieving certification shows commitment to excellence,” says Kelly Proctor, President of DNV Healthcare USA Inc. “And it helps demonstrate to your community that you are performing at the highest level.” Comprehensive stroke centers are typically and largest and best-equipped hospitals and a given geographical area that can treat any kind of stroke or stroke complication. In a growing number of states, stroke center certification determines to which facility a patient should be taken for the most appropriate, reimbursable care.

Cardiac rehabilitation isn't part of any routine care pathways for patients with atrial fibrillation. Excited to share results from our single-arm pilot study published in Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention. We enrolled overweight/obese patients with AF in a 12-week cardiac rehab-like program at Mass General Hospital. Patients reported improvement in AF burden, symptoms, and quality of life. In 2023, the center’s cardiac rehab patients decreased their total cholesterol by an average of 23%, and their low-density lipoprotein (LDL) by 32%, among other statistics. Studies have shown that lowering LDL cholesterol reduces risks of cardiovascular deaths, strokes, and heart attacks, among other major heart health benefits.
