The financial industry can facilitate the transition to Net Zero emissions of greenhouse gases by shifting capital from high to low carbon activities. As a result, we have partnered with British International Investment and its partners, FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank and Joint Impact Model Foundation, to support further collaborations with financial institutions and their sustainability journeys. Building on the success of the ‘Measuring financed emissions South Asia’ project, this new venture will work with African financial institutions to encourage them to embrace carbon accounting proactively. As part of the project, last week our South African team, alongside partner organisations, hosted the ‘Measuring financed emissions in Africa’ workshop, in Johannesburg. Thank you to all the financial institution stakeholders who attended. We were thrilled with the turnout and your enthusiasm to learn about the importance of understanding financed emissions as contributing towards global efforts to mitigate climate change. 🌍💵 Stay tuned for more details on the next event in August, hosted in another African country.

We are excited to be in #NYC this week, where Invest Africa is hosting our US-Africa Investment Forum in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. While #UNGA takes centre stage this week, it's worth noting that it's not the only significant event in town. It's also #ClimateWeekNYC, and these concurrent events are setting the stage for vital discussions – particularly in the context of Africa's journey towards a sustainable future. Climate will be a central theme of Invest Africa Ltd’s US-Africa Investor Forum in partnership with the Milken Institute tomorrow, with a fireside chat between H.E. William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Michael Milken, Chairman of Milken Institute. Samaila Zubairu, President and CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation will provide the keynote opening address as a pivotal figure in Africa's climate advocacy. President Ruto's leadership was evident when he hosted the inaugural #AfricaClimateSummit, underscoring Kenya's growing prominence as a climate finance hub and elevating the continent's profile in global climate discussions. Mr. Zubairu and the Africa Finance Corporation continue to play a key role in shaping Africa's economic future and championing vital initiatives such as a just energy transition. Following the keynote addresses, our panellists will engage in a dynamic conversation, moderated by Tim McDonnell of Semafor, debating innovation and emerging trends in #climatefinance across the continent. We are delighted to have senior representation from USAID, Namibian Presidency, Standard Chartered Bank, CrossBoundary, Xcalibur Multiphysics, and Eurasian Resources Group for this important discussion. 2023 has emerged as a blockbuster year for climate action in Africa and beyond, and we look forward to contributing to the discussion again this week.

Supply Chain Challenges in the Energy Sector transition. An insightful panel discussion held today by leaders in the industry around bottlenecks and opportunities in South Australia by the Australian Institute of Energy - SA Branch, Industry Capability Network and host MinterEllison and panelists Michael Goodsite, Michael Bartsch, Alex Trento, Clay Wohling and Bettina Venner thank you for bringing this topic together. Despite the local and global issues the renewable sector faces, in supply and management capabilities whilst competing in the drive for net zero emissions. South Australia is at the global forefront of clean energy generation. In over 16 years South Australia's electricity mix has shifted to more than 70% of energy generated by wind and solar, supported by innovative battery storage technologies and gas. South Australia’s lessons can assist other jurisdictions learn how to incorporate substantial quantities of variable renewable energy (VRE) generation and distributed energy resources into the electrical grid. The experienced knowledge, technology and a national/ international exporter of clean energy are part of these great opportunities for South Australia in building a greener future. Joined by my colleagues Rachel Homer, Henry Ferris and Bridie Taglienti from Procurement, Contracts, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering #energy #renewables #partnerships #networking #recruitment
