Champion of Human-Centric Business Interactions that Drive Long-Term Partnerships | Preparing to Empower Those Who Help Others & Announce An Exciting Venture
The approach is subtle. The results are staggering. The Recurring Giving Report provided by Neon One found that the average lifetime of a recurring donor exceeds 8 years. ▶️ This doesn't happen without a profound 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 between nonprofits and their donors. ▶️ That 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 only flourishes if it's cultivated through meaningful 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 and mutual understanding. ▶️ And that 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 is rooted in the subtle art of asking the right questions. The fundraiser role transcends transactional interactions. It involves delving into the donor's vision and uncovering how it aligns closely with your cause. How you ask, listen and respond shapes the narrative and the outcome. In a way, it's a role similar to strategic consulting, using questions to reveal and align deeper motivations, fostering a commitment that lasts. What impactful questions have people in #fundraising and #nonprofits used to truly uncover what lies beneath the surface of donor motivation??

I help advancement leaders use philanthropy communications to close more 7-, 8-, and 9-figure gifts.
Where to begin when developing a case for support to support your #MajorGifts #fundraising? Here are 10 questions to start the process: 1. What is the problem? 2. Why now? 3. What is the solution? 4. How does the solution relate to your organization’s mission, vision, and values? 5. Why is the organization uniquely positioned to solve the problem? 6. How do you propose to bridge the gap between the problem and the envisioned solution? 7. What will it cost? 8. How will those funds be applied? (E.g. current use vs. endowment) 9. If we are successful, how will it transform the institution, constituents, community, etc.? 10. How can prospective #donors be partners in that transformation? This is not an exhaustive list, but it is an essential one. — 👉 Your turn: Which question above do you think is the most important? — Like this post? **Fascinating Research by Capital Campaign Pro!** For those of us with experience in the field of capital campaigns, many of the findings don't come as a surprise. Here are some key takeaways: 🔸 Campaigns don't cannibalize annual funds. This is always a big worry, but I often see the opposite. 🔸 Feasibility studies are a crucial aspect of the process. Organizations that conducted a feasibility study raised 115% of their goal, compared to 101% by those who didn't. Successfully executing a capital campaign often means making an initial investment, which may involve hiring an external consultant to help set clear goals. 🔸 Small organizations can be successful in a capital campaign effort. 🔸 On average, capital campaigns run for approximately 3.2 years. This realization can be a challenging pill to swallow for many nonprofits. Once organizations commit to launching a capital campaign, it can be difficult for them to grasp that it will take some time to see the benefits of that decision. 🔸 71% of the funds raised come from the top 20 gifts. That is just how it works. It doesn’t matter how many donors you have, if you’ve had a super successful Facebook fundraiser, or how good you are in putting on galas. Successful campaigns happen because of a small number of donors. I highly recommend checking out the study for a deeper dive into the actual data. I heard about this film at this years Utah Nonprofits Association conference. After the keynote spoke about, I was determined to find out how to see it. It did not disappoint. This is a must see, period. There is a showing in Park City, UT at Park City Theater on December 7th. Companies that believe (or are skeptical about giving/working with) in nonprofits and organizations should consider attending. The facts are spelled out for you about why overhead should matter and be funded in non-profit work. Learning more about where society’s perception came from on why a CEO/ED of an 501c3 should only make a certain amount gave context to how people give. There were so many takeaways to this film. If you can’t make the showing in Park City, consider bringing it back next year. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gH2VJs7Y
