Dear LinkedIn Colleagues: Today, December 1st in Global World AIDS Day. Please join me in asking #Congress to prioritize and dedicate funding to fighting the disease. #WorldAIDSDay was first observed in 1988. Each year, organizations and individuals across the world bring attention to the #HIV #epidemic, endeavor to increase HIV #awareness and knowledge, speak out against HIV #stigma, and call for an increased response to move toward Ending the #HIVEpidemic in the U.S. This year’s theme for World AIDS Day is “World AIDS Day 35: Remember and Commit.” This annual event serves as a reminder that Together, as a community, we can #endHIVstigma, promote access to #treatment and #prevention by committing to create a world that is equitable for all. The #HouseofRepresentatives has proposed over $767M in cuts to #domesticHIVprograms and eliminated funding specifically designated for the #EndingtheHIVEpidemic initiative. While advocates have been successful in shoring up #bipartisansupport in the #Senate to oppose these #cuts, it is vital that we continue to unite and insist that any proposal to slash global or domestic HIV funding is categorically #unacceptable. #StopHIVTogether #WorldAIDSDay

Breaking News: HIVSA Receives USAID Grant to Empower Children and Adolescents Affected by HIV in North-West Province 🚀 We are thrilled to announce that HIVSA has been awarded a significant grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support our new program, "Children, Adolescents and Families in the HIV Epidemic in the North-West Province" (CAFHE). The North-West Province of South Africa faces unique challenges with one of the highest HIV prevalences in the country. With this grant, we will be able to implement targeted interventions to support children, adolescents, and families affected by HIV, ensuring access to vital healthcare, education, and support services. This is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic and empower communities to lead healthier, more resilient lives. # celebration of World 🌎 AIDS day ⛑️🏥 "The theme provides an opportunity to contemplate the strides we've made collaboratively with partners and to pledge to take the necessary actions to eliminate HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030." We must make sure that everyone, no matter where they are or what situation they're in, can easily get HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care. World AIDS Day in 2003 is all about "Live and let live," which was the theme of the World AIDS Campaign from 2002 to 2003. The goal of the campaign is to stop unfair judgment and treating people differently, which are big problems in stopping HIV/AIDS and taking care of those affected. On December 1, we observed World AIDS Day. This year's motto, "Let communities lead," urges us to take steps that empower and back communities in guiding the journey towards ending AIDS by 2030. #WorldAidsDay#HealthSafety#PersonalCare#HealthSupportera#livetogether

As we recognize the World Aids Day (01st Dec, 2023) by addressing issues related to HIV and AIDs let us deal with by putting out information regarding the status of HIV in PNG. Per the National AIDS Council Secretariat site (https://www.nacs.org.pg/). I wish to share this important info on the statistics; 1. PNG HIV prevelance has increased to 1% in 10 years. 2. 72, 000 estimated PNGeans are currently living with HIV by end of 2022 3. 1, 000 estimated HIV-related deaths by end of 2022 4. 18 people are infected with HIV everyday in PNG. Estimated to 6, 500 new HIV cases in 2022 5. 1 out of every 100 adult PNGean is HIV Positive 6. 1 out of every 100 pregnant woman tested for HIV in PNG is HIV Positive 7. 1 out of every 3 babies born to an HIV Positive mother is HIV Positive 8. About 4, 400 children. 0 to 14 years old are living withcl HIV out of the 72, 000 total PLHIV. We must appreciate these figures and address in our own ways as indivuals or groups to combat the issue of raising HIV causes in the country. #hivaids #awarenesscampaign #statistics #health #png

We're thrilled #UequalsU is one of eight actions required for Europe to address HIV-related stigma and discrimination and meet the 2030 target to end the HIV epidemic. PAC is proud to have been consulted on this important report by Spain's Ministry of Health during Spain's EU presidency. "There is low knowledge of the breakthroughs in treatment as prevention, or that a person with HIV who is on treatment and has an undetectable viral load cannot transmit HIV (Undetectable = Untransmittable or U=U). There is a clear association between such poor understanding of modes of transmission and stigmatising attitudes. Poor understanding amongst younger people is a real concern and a reminder of the need to continue to inform new generations of the facts around HIV, a key anti-stigma, as well as preventive, intervention."
