#Kansas is one of two states that has not adopted this law. This law will protect people who are calling 911 in the case of an overdose. They will be granted immunity for personal possession and paraphernalia because they are saving someone’s life. Had this law been in place before now it would have saved so many lives. Studies show that 70% of all people who use drugs will witness nonfatal overdose in their lifetime, almost unanimously they say they are afraid to get in trouble or arrested and are afraid to call 911. Now is the time to act! With illicit #fentanyl on the rise and so many deaths caused by it we need this law in place to save our youth, family, friends, our children! After Washington passed the law they did a new study and 90 % of people say they will call 911 knowing that they will be protected! We have bipartisan support on this bill and we have so many other people supporting this law for example Wyandotte County health department, PARS Topeka, Fentanyl Fathers, keepin’ clean for Coop, #KayleesDadisMad, and #KansasFamiliesFightingFentanyl. WE CAN'T BRING BACK OUR CHILDREN BUT WE CAN HELP SAVE OTHERS! Please sign and share!!! Now that the legislative session has ended, I want to offer some #lessonsincivics to prepare for the next session. Lesson 1: A small percentage of the population actually reaches out to their legislator. Here are some helpful hints for you for your contact to be successful and heard. 1. Is the issue you are concerned about about a federal, state or local issue? Figure this out before making that phone call or sending that email 2. Once you determine that, find out who are your legislators (the one that represents you where you live) - Do you know who your delegate or Assembly person is? Your state senator? Your congressperson? 3. Once you know the answer to these questions, you are well on your way to becoming an #advocate. Stay tuned for lesson #2.
