Friday mood. As we move into the holiday weekend, I think about all my friends and colleagues who are in transitions right now. It's a slog; it goes in fits and starts. Consistency is a challenge. And weekends suck because no one else but you is thinking about you or your situation. We feel no movement on those days. Long weekends exaggerate that feeling. It reminds me of a recent comment by one of my favorite New York Rangers players, Chris Kreider, about one of his young teammates. Kreider describes how in the playoffs you don't necessarily step up your game, but you lean on your habits - your great habits are what help you to focus and succeed at times of greater stress. So for those of us in transition - lean on your habits. They will lift you up and allow you to navigate the ups and downs. Keep on keepin' on. Check out the interview here:

Cosplay is a big part of my life. And it led me to represent the UK at the Int. Cosplay Championships. Eurovision for costume making. At school, I was the ‘weird one who liked dressing up’. The popular kids laughed and even some of the teachers struggled to understand it 🙄 The joys of school, eh?! To me, though, it was a big deal. A chance to express myself and meet people with shared interests, something I found difficult outside of cosplay. I’m glad I stuck to it despite all the criticism. And it’s safe to say I had the last laugh when I found out the news I’d be jetting off to Chicago to represent the UK in the Int Championships. Such an immense feeling. Sadly, I didn’t come home with a medal. But what I did win was a lot more powerful: a newfound confidence in myself and my ability. Remember… Don’t let anyone other than yourself dictate what you do with your life. I was SO close to not following my passion because of the stick I was getting at school. If I’d have listened, I wouldn’t have this incredible experience to share.
