⚡ 🤠 Everything we do at 8090 Industries is based on first principles - even to being founded right here in Texas. We called it early that Texas would be the GLOBAL epicenter for the energy transition: armed with the world's most abundant home for cheap renewable power, abundant cheap land, the largest and most capable industrial workforce in the West and a government that gets out of the way and allows you to get sh** done. When we were first getting started, people would often ask, why Dallas, why Houston? Why be based and founded there? Years later, no one doubts that today - especially Evelyn Wang as she helps host the annual ARPA-E summit right here in my hometown of Dallas, Texas next week. And while "HQs" may reside elsewhere, Texas is officially the capital for industrial build outs and where things are actually getting deployed. The Energy Transition: Mapping the Future of Utilities The EU is committed to a radical decarbonisation by 2050 🌍. This goal will be achieved through, among others, increased electrification, improvements in energy efficiency, and the use of hydrogen and other low-carbon energy carriers. This means that energy companies have a major challenge in the coming years, but sometimes their hands are tied due to regulations. Many Utilities in the Netherlands have a monopoly and are strictly regulated, their modus operandi has been changing slowly for the last century. The energy transition requires fundamental changes at Utility companies, therefor the need to pick up the pace. The way grids are designed, build and operate have undergone more changes in the last 10 years than in all previous history combined. ⏳ Now day’s a modern Utility needs collaboration with governments, contractors, and technology partners. Technology can support Utilities to get insights of future demands by Digital Twins. Mapping the future of energy transition via a geographic approach is key to understanding the infrastructure we need to achieve our energy transition goals. The World Energy Council has published the 15th edition of its World Energy Trilemma Report, titled ‘Evolving with Resilience and Justice’. The World Energy Trilemma framework tracks national energy performance against the three key dimensions of energy security, equity, and environmental sustainability. “This latest edition of the World Energy Trilemma Report demonstrates that how we got ‘here’ won’t get us to ‘there’ when it comes to managing orderly, inclusive and just global energy transitions," said Dr Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General & CEO of the World Energy Council. "The world’s first consumer-led energy shock, the materiality of the renewable energy revolution and the continued rise in structural inequalities are red flags to business-as-usual. Energy leadership is, can, and will change, adapt, and evolve - and that includes how we track progress. “We manage what we measure. The future of energy is going to be much more demanding, literally! As we redesign energy for people and planet, we are transforming the World Energy Trilemma framework and extend the practical use of this performance management and pathfinding tool beyond countries to regions and cities.” #cleanenergy
