Today, Season Health is thrilled to announce that we have received both Outcomes Validation and FoodMed Certification from Validation Institute. Season received an Outcomes Validation for our integrated clinical program focused on preventing and managing diabetes. During the 90-day intervention, members met with Season Health Registered Dietitians (an average of 3.2 times), participated in an accredited Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program, and used Season’s food marketplace platform and personalized nutrition prescriptions to procure medically-tailored pre-made meals and groceries. Additionally, members were given $50 per month in credits to spend on healthy food via the Season platform. Key highlights from the report: - Season members with initial HbA1c levels at or above 9 points lowered their levels by an average of 1.8 points - Members with baseline levels at or above 8 points lowered them by an average of 1.3 points - 23% of the members who had HbA1c levels at or below 7 at baseline remained at that level at 90 days Additionally, Season’s FoodMed certification provides added transparency and improved decision-making for employers, healthcare organizations, and patients. The only way food as medicine and nutrition will continue gaining traction with payers, providers, and patients is through proven outcomes and evidence-driven programs, so we’re confident this validation will support both our work and continued growth in the space. The deadline for the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill, where Meals on Wheels and congregate programs are primarily funded, is coming up on February 2. We must come together to show Congress the immense need for a funding level of at least $1.284 billion for Older Americans Act (OAA) nutrition programs. Here are three ways to take action: Call your Members of Congress using our script to ask them to #SaveLunch and advocate for increased funding for OAA nutrition programs: https://bit.ly/46XTQ90 Write a letter to the editor using our #SaveLunch guide to share the impact of our programs: https://bit.ly/3t5s64G Share our critical work on social media and tag our U.S. Senators and Representatives, asking them to #SaveLunch: https://bit.ly/46QmTLH
