BG&E is excited to contribute essential engineering design services for the Suburban Connect consortium, consisting of CPB Contractors, ACCIONA, and Ghella. This collaboration aims to realise the initial tunnelling phase of Melbourne's groundbreaking Suburban Rail Loop East Project.
The Suburban Rail Loop East Project is a transformative initiative, creating a new rail line spanning from Cheltenham to Box Hill. It is poised to reshape living and connectivity in Melbourne's east and southeast regions, linking major hubs in employment, health, education, and retail. The new rail line is anticipated to significantly reduce travel times and generate up to 8,000 direct job opportunities.
The initial tunnelling package for Suburban Rail Loop East involves constructing a 16-kilometre stretch of the total 26-kilometre twin tunnels. This includes tunnelling activities between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley, establishing two new underground station boxes, and construction works at Heatherton, Clarinda, Clayton, and Monash.
BG&E is tasked with providing civil and structural engineering design services for two primary construction sites at Clarinda and Clayton. Additionally, the company will deliver hydrology and durability engineering services for the entire project. To accomplish these objectives, BG&E will assemble a proficient team comprising experts in civil, structural, geotechnical, hydrology, materials, and durability engineering, as well as design and project management. This collaborative effort will involve close cooperation with Suburban Connect, Suburban Rail Loop Authority, and various stakeholders to bring this iconic project to fruition successfully.
