Yesterday, I had the privilege of hearing from Karen Madry, President and CEO of Afena Federal Credit Union. Karen has fought through several challenges to be where she is today, and she never wants to forget where she came from through her journey. Afena Federal Credit Union does banking differently as it focuses on educating its community with financial literacy so that underprivileged people can live successful lives. One key point Karen shared when looking for an organization to work for is to ensure that my values align with the organization's values. This may look like asking an organization for its mission, vision, and values statements and questioning how they impact their surrounding communities.
